An Update on Stewardship

April 2, 2020

Dear Friends in Christ,

The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in a number of unexpected disruptions to our lives. But in spite of these changes--indeed, precisely because of these changes--the people of God continue to be called to bear witness to the love and the grace of God. At Trinity, that means finding new ways to sustain our commitment to worship, fellowship, formation, and service in and to the world.

I encourage you to continue your participation in the fellowship of the Trinity community during this extraordinary time. We're using our website and social media platforms to provide multiple opportunities for worship, services that can help you sustain your practice of daily prayer. We're also finding new ways to reach out to one another and stay connected, and I hope you'll stay informed about all that's still going on at Trinity and help ensure others are likewise informed. And we're developing new ways of addressing needs in Columbia, both those with which we're familiar and those that emerge as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to unfold.

The potential consequences of the pandemic for Trinity and for Columbia (and, indeed, the nation) are not inconsiderable. As we look to the weeks and months ahead, we want to ensure the ministries and services Trinity provides continue to be available. To that end, I ask you to be especially mindful of continuing your financial support of the cathedral during this time. Your faithfulness and generosity are now more important than ever, both to enable Trinity to sustain our ministries and to meet developing needs.

There are a variety of ways you can submit your offerings and gifts to Trinity, including using our website ( trinitysc.org), using our new "Text to Give" service, or sending them through the mail; additional details about all of these are available on our website. You can use all these means to stay current with your pledged giving, to make additional offerings, and/or to make special gifts. If you desire to make a contribution that can be used to provide emergency relief to those experiencing hardship as a consequence of the COVID-19 pandemic, I encourage you to donate to the Dean's Outreach Fund.

Time and again, Trinity has demonstrated itself to be a community characterized by the generosity of its members. I'm especially grateful to all those who are able sustain their financial support of the cathedral during challenging times like the one we're now in. Thank you for your faithful support. If at any time you have questions about giving to Trinity, please contact Ryan Headley (803.461.7302, or [email protected]) or Donald Benson (803.461.7318,or [email protected]).

Our most recent stewardship campaign is "Blessings Abound." It can be hard to remember our many blessings in the midst of a situation like a pandemic. But oftentimes it's just such hardships that enable us to reorder the perspective and the priorities of our lives in ways that better align with the reign of God. I invite you to reflect prayerfully on how our current experience invites you to deeper levels of faithfulness in every dimension of your life.

Yours in Christ,

The Reverend Andrew Grosso, PhD
Acting Dean
