Mother and wife of a former Dean honors her son, an IEM alumnus!
Neal McCollom and Katherine Tompkins McCollom
Katherine Tompkins McCollom, wife of former Dean of the College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology, Ken McCollom, and mother of IEM alumnus, Neal McCollom, recently named two conference rooms in honor of Neal.

Katherine was an active member of Stillwater's First United Methodist Church and now lives in Fort Worth. Ken McCollom is remembered as a true gentleman with a good sense of humor. Before he retired as CEAT Dean in 1986, he had been an Assistant and Associate Dean of the College and a Professor of Electrical Engineering. He served in World War II, worked for Phillips Petroleum Company in Bartlesville, was inducted into the Oklahoma Higher Education Hall of Fame, recognized as an Outstanding Engineer in Oklahoma, and a Fellow of the American Society for Engineering Education.

Neal McCollom received a BS and an MIE from IEM. He worked in Houston for several years and then earned a PhD in IE from Texas A&M University (under Dr. Lee Blank, another OSU graduate and a Cowboy Academy of Industrial Engineering and Management member). He taught for a time at the University of Missouri but decided to return to Texas to General Dynamics (now Lockheed Martin). Neal has spent time on simulation of the shop floor for robotic workflow, artificial intelligence and knowledge based systems and the digital delivery of the F-22 Technical Data Package. Neal went on to support the F-35 sustainment in Prognostics and Health Management (PHM) and then concentrated on the Off Board PHM system as well as the support of the F-35 Maintainers. He  earned the title of Lockheed Martin Fellow in 2008 - an honor reserved for the top 0.75% of the technical staff of the Lockheed Martin Corporation.  Neal is a registered Professional Engineer in Texas.
