Presidents Message

The young lady that cuts my hair looked tired. She goes to school at College of the Sequoias in the morning, then heads to the shop to cut hair until the early evening. Once she gets home she studies until bedtime.

This schedule repeats itself throughout her week.

While she cut my hair this week I lamented her plight.

"Oh, I have another lady in my classes that has four kids," she said. "Now that's really hard. I don't know how she does it. Some people have it so much harder."

I shook my head and said something like "I don't know you do it."

The scissors in her hand stopped and her hands went to her side.

"Hope," she said. "Hope is what keeps us going."

------------------------

This spring our firm will continue its efforts to "keep hope alive" for some graduating high school seniors in Tulare County.

Annually, Buckman-Mitchell provides a $500 scholarship to a graduating senior at every high school in Tulare County. Representatives from each school select the recipient and Buckman-Mitchell presents that individual with a check.

It is a small token of our appreciation of the efforts of our youth and the education community that has supported them. The dollar value certainly isn't going to pay for the student's education. We only hope it helps create an opportunity for a young person. An opportunity to hope.

GOOSE VS. EGG

If you have a goose who lays a golden egg every day and you are given a choice between insuring the goose or insuring the eggs, which would you insure?

I'm sure your answer would be the goose, because the goose is the one responsible for providing the golden eggs. Unfortunately, most people insure and show more concern for the eggs. In other words, people insure their cars, homes, TVs and other valuable toys and fail to insure themselves.

You are the Golden Goose for your family because you supply the golden eggs; the MONEY. The most important insurance protects the family in case the goose dies or becomes disabled. Same rings true for your business. If you aren't protecting your geese, your business can be at financial risk.

May is Disability Insurance Awareness Month. It's a great time to evaluate your personal and professional protection in the event of a disability or death. Contact our office if you would like a consultation with a licensed insurance professional.

Key- Person Insurance

Most organizations employ at least one individual who is essential to the company's success. This person may be a partner, owner, majority stockholder or another individual who is crucial to the business. If this person unexpectedly leaves the organization--due to a death, disability or immediate resignation--it may be hard for the organization to survive. [...]
