Remembering Jerry Bruening

Rest in Peace
March 10, 2020
It is with a great deal of sadness that we inform you that Jerry Bruening passed away this week.  For those of you who have worked with Jerry, you most likely remember him as the calm, stoic but humorous coworker who took everything in stride.

On January 6, 2009 The Charlotte County Board of Commissioners recognized Jerry's service to the county with a proclamation. The following is an excerpt from the proclamation:

"Gerald Bruening, who is commonly known as "Jerry" by his coworkers, has been employed with Charlotte County since October 8, 1975, for a total of 33 years, 2 months and 29 days; and Jerry was hired and employed by the County as a Survey Worker, worked as a Right-of-Way Coordinator, served as Senior Party Chief, became a Professional Land Surveyor in 1993, was promoted to County Surveyor in 2008, and is now retiring after his 33 years of employment with Charlotte County."

Jerry was an advocate for local blood banks and had donated almost 100 gallons in his lifetime. In honor of his valiant efforts there will be a blood drive at a date to be determined.

Please keep Joanne and the Bruening family in your thoughts.
