Dear Friends and Neighbors:

UPDATE: RESIDENTS IN IMPACTED AREAS ARE ASKED TO PLEASE CONTINUE LIMITING USE OF WATER UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE:

Houston water is fine to drink.

This issue is related to the sanitary sewers (where your water goes when use flush, take a shower, or use the dishwasher or washing machine).

City of Houston Water's West District and Turkey Creek Wastewater Treatment plants have both been flooded, are currently under water and inaccessible .  When you flush, or take a shower or do dishes, or use the washing machine, it causes raw sewage to discharge in an uncontrolled fashion.

Residents in the purple or beige shaded impacted areas shown below are asked to please help Houston Water by NOT flushing or using extra water for showers, baths, laundry, dishes or toilets until further notice.

A larger map of the impacted areas may be found here:  http://www.houstontx.gov/council/g/images/limit-water-use.png

This is a request to consider your downstream neighbors.  It is NOT an order.  If you have been mucking out your house all day, we understand you may need to take a quick shower.

PLEASE DO NOT SEND US EMAILS ASKING IF YOU CAN USE YOUR DISHWASHER.  WE WILL SEND ANOTHER EMAIL WHEN IT IS OK TO DO SO--the volume of inquiries is overwhelming our ability to assist constituents.

IF YOU ARE NOT ON OUR EMAIL LIST, PLEASE SIGN UP SO YOU WILL RECEIVE OUR UPDATES.

For questions and concerns, please call 3-1-1.
