What is a Kindergarten Jumpstart and screening visit, and why is it necessary for my child to take part?
The Kindergarten Jumpstart and screening visit is a short 13 question screening that tells us what your child already knows before entering kindergarten. This is an important tool for you, as a parent, to know what things you can work on over the summer to help set your child up for success in their first year of school. Our job as the parent educator is to give you ideas and tools to help with any areas of concern we find on the screening. It is important to know there is not a score your child must achieve in order to go to kindergarten.
A Parents As Teachers team member will conduct the screening in your home or at the Early Education Building.
During the Kindergarten Jumpstart and screening visit we will walk through what the transition to school looks like and help ease concerns you may have as well as answer your questions.
Kindergarten Round Up
KSD’s Kindergarten Round Up will be held Thursday, April 16, 2019 at 6:30 PM at the elementary school your child will attend based on your home address. This event allows families with children who will be five years old on or before July 31, 2020 to enroll for Kindergarten and receive helpful information about the school district and beginning school.
The child you are enrolling is welcome to attend as well.

The Kearney Rotary Club - District 6040 Shoes Caravan is coming! With your help, in our 19th year, we'll surpass a collective total of 350,000 pairs of shoes being sent where they are most needed in the world - for orphan and vulnerable children who are in need of our assistance. (This year - our shoes will be sent to the Dominican Republic, along with some distribution in the United States.)
Please help the Rotary Club by collecting
shoes and bringing them to the April 1 Chamber Membership Luncheon
(or drop your donation off at Oak Point, Mon-Fri, 8am-5pm). Together, we can make it happen! (

We are excited to offer a new service to treat Parkinson's symptoms!
LSVT LOUD is a program for treating the voice and speech disorders in patients with Parkinson disease. LSVT LOUD focuses on increasing vocal loudness with additional improvements with speech intelligibility, intonation and facial expression. LSVT BIG is the physical and occupational therapy component which targets improved balance, faster walking with bigger steps and improvements with activities of daily living such as bed mobility.
Research on LSVT is supported by over 25 years of federal funding, including three randomized controlled trials.
Recently, our therapists attended a LSVT LOUD and LSVT BIG Training and Certification Course and received LSVT LOUD and LSVT BIG Certification. We are now prepared to receive referrals in order to treat patients with Parkinson disease using LSVT LOUD and LSVT BIG!
