Each year, during Lent, we are invited to join in support of UMCOR Sunday (formerly known as One Great Hour of Sharing Offering.) We join United Methodists worldwide to support humanitarian aid through the United Methodist Committee On Relief (UMCOR.) You can be assured that when catastrophes cause suffering anywhere in the world, our United Methodist Church, impelled by Jesus' love and compassion, will be in the lead to ease the pain and recovery. UMCOR continues to be at work seeking to make a difference for those caught in recent tragedies.
Gifts to this special offering underwrite UMCOR's "cost of doing business." It helps us keep our promise that 100 percent of every gift we make to a specific UMCOR project will be spent on that project - not on home office costs. UMCOR is an excellent steward of God's gifts.
Through my years of ministry, I have personally seen the difference UMCOR makes in the lives of people both here in our country and around the world. I will never forget seeing a container of food, clothes, and a Toyota van unloaded while I was in Liberia, Africa during that tragic civil war. The excitement and hope I saw on the faces of the crowd still warms my heart. So I invite you to join me in making a generous gift beyond our regular giving to truly make a difference in this world.
The reception of new members will be scheduled for a later date.
If you are interested in joining Sun Lakes United Methodist Church next time we receive members, please stop and visit Pastor Marvin or call the church office at (480) 895-8766.
UNDIE SUNDAY
The "Undie Sunday" donation drive began this week!
We are collecting brand new (with tags in original packaging) under garments and socks for the homeless. You may put your donations in the red wagon in the Church Office foyer. We need all types of under garments for men, women and children.
Your generosity is always appreciated by the numerous recipients who benefit from your donations.
