"[It's cool to] go to school saying we carried a canoe for 1.25 miles, lived in the woods for a week, canoed 26 miles and went to Canada!"
-Girl Scouts on Boundary Waters Destinations

Breaking Boundaries!
Girl Scout Cadettes Brave Boundary Waters

When it comes to high adventure for girls, no one does it better than Girl Scouts. This summer seven Cadettes from our council took on a great big adventure canoeing the Boundary Waters.

Armed with a canoe, 2 changes of clothes, toiletries and a 75lb pack of food and supplies, each girl braved the waters in Minnesota and Canada. It was truly the chance of a lifetime to test their limits, create friendships, work together as a team and learn some pretty amazing skills.

A Full Circle in Girl Scouts
"My favorite Girl Scout experiences were due to volunteers. I volunteer so that I can provide that same experience to a girl."

When Katelyn Clark was a Daisy, she never dreamed Girl Scouts could take her on adventures that would shape her life. This summer, she went on the same adventure she had taken as a 13 year old Cadette, and this time she took new Girl Scout Cadettes with her -  Katelyn led the girls on their first trip to the Boundary Waters. The Boundary Waters opened Katelyn's eyes to the power of travel when she was a Cadette, and she wanted other Girl Scouts to have the same impactful experience she had so many years ago.

Katelyn not only gives her time as a volunteer, she invests in Girl Scouts as a donor. "Many of the programs [Girl Scouts has] require funding, so I contribute financially as well.  I held a birthday fundraiser on Facebook to raise money for the Boundary Waters trip. It was a great way to spread the word about GS to my network and have them help contribute."

Katelyn is an AMAZING example of a Girl Scout who continues to innovate new ways to give back to the program that helped her become the ultimate G.I.R.L! We're thankful to Katelyn for all that she does!
