Newsletter

We hope that you have had a happy and relaxing summer. We are glad to greet our new students and families and welcome them into the community.  We welcome back our returning families and children as well. We are always excited to see them return. They grow and change so much over the summer.

At this time of year we are filled with excitement as we anticipate meeting each of your children and we begin a year of learning and having fun together.

We look forward to a very successful year for each child. We are in partnership with you to provide a warm, loving atmosphere in which each child can grow and learn.

September is primarily devoted to settling down and getting to know each other and ourselves. We want to acquire a good feeling about ourselves and for each other. For some children this is a first experience away from home and parents. This transition may be difficult. We will, therefore, move slowly until all are comfortable with their new friends and surroundings. Following directions, listening, and becoming aware of those around us will be an ongoing endeavor. Our classrooms will provide your child with many opportunities to grow in self-esteem and independence, as well as prepare them to reach their developmental milestones, while fostering a love of learning.

During the first few weeks of school we will be learning the routines for each day and the proper use of all the materials.  Listening and following directions will be stressed throughout the year.  In this first month of school we will discuss how each of us is special. We are in partnership with you to provide a warm and caring atmosphere in which each child can grow and learn. Your unique family is important to us. We welcome your questions, advice, input and opinions.  We anticipate a good start to our school year, with much learning, sharing and having fun!

Communication is very important in fostering a partnership between home and school.  One of the ways we communicate to parents is through our newsletter.  Our Newsletter contains the Monthly Themes, Important Dates and Reminders and website for the month. There are sections for each specific learning domain, Math, Science, Art, Technology, Physical Education and Music. In each section, classes describe an educational and fun activity from the previous month.  We hope you are excited to hear about all the great things happening in our classrooms.  Don't forget to check the Quote section, to hear some of the funny things our teachers hear from the children!

  • You received your Back-to-School packet in August.  If you have not yet done so, please return it to the front desk as soon as possible.
  • When calling the facility, please keep in mind that calls should be ideally be made between 12-2pm while the children are napping.
  • Please remember to make sure your child's cubby contains weather-appropriate clothing.  We also appreciate all of our parents continuing to bring in diapers and a box of wipes twice each month on the 1st and the 15th.

Little Einsteins

Children love to explore and find out more about the world around them.  From conducting simple experiments, to observing the changes in seasons, and learning about plants and animals, our children are emerged in science each month.

Mathematicians

Our children engage in various activities each day to help them learn the numbers, shapes, and colors associated with our monthly themes. Our Beam Room is an interactive room that helps reinforce this learning in a fun and creative way. The games are projected onto the floor, which in turn reinforce colors, shapes and numbers. This is a great learning opportunity for children who are visual learners, in addition to those who learn best through movement.

Little Picassos

From coloring and painting, to cutting and pasting, our children are constantly exposed to the world of art.  Students love creating projects within their classrooms and taking turns in the art room.

Musicians in the Making

Singing and dancing are a daily highlight within our classrooms. Children learn language and educational concepts through music and movement.  On Tuesdays and Thursdays, students are always excited to see Mr. Kenny.  He is our music teacher, who rotates among the classes each week.

Technology Tots &
Athletes in Training

Our October Newsletter will share Technology and Physical Education activities the children participated in this month. We have many opportunities for our children to learn through the use of technology. We have a Computer Room, which contains computers, a Smart Table, and Fisher-Price Nabi tablets. These items have a variety of games that enrich your child's learning experience. In addition, we have a Beam Projector in the Music and Movement Room.  The Beam projects instruments and interactive games onto the floor.  The children move throughout the room and use their feet to tap on answers or to complete tasks.  The projected games assist with your child's learning, as well as helps with the development of motor skills, such as kicking and jumping. Lastly, it helps improve social skills, such as patience and turn taking.

The Nurse's Station

Health Policy
Welcome to all our new students and welcome back to those returning. I hope you all had a safe and fun-filled summer.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS:

Please familiarize yourself with our  Health Policy .  It is also located on our website. Click on Day Care/Pre-school-Parent Resources.  We ask for your cooperation to help us maintain a healthy environment. Unfortunately, your child will get sick. You must have an alternate plan. In order to protect your child and others, we have set up guidelines on attendance.   If at any time it is felt that a child is too sick or contagious, that child will not be admitted or kept at Day Care.  A doctor's note must accompany any child returning from a contagious or serious illness.  Please call us as soon as possible to make us aware so that we can make others aware and watch for signs and symptoms in other children.

Please stay up to date on your child's physicals and immunizations. We are mandated by the Department of Health. Please refer to our Health Policy. Your child will not be allowed to attend Day Care/Pre-School without the appropriate updates/forms submitted.

Please note that we are a peanut-free school. Please help us to maintain a nut free environment by refraining from sending any such items (nuts, peanut butter, almond butter, any items containing nut oils, etc.) to school with your children.
If your child suffers from asthma or allergies please inform the nurse and staff. This information is crucial for us to be made aware of and is posted on every classroom refrigerator as well as clip board. Along with bringing in an EPI PEN, inhaler or nebulizer it is mandatory to submit the following forms: Allergies/Anaphylaxis Medication Administration Form and/or Asthma Medication Administration Form.
Accidents happen; please check your child's cubby periodically for a full set of age and weather-appropriate clothing.  Please refrain from using hair clips if your child is under two years old. They are a choking hazard.  Please opt for a band or hair tie if necessary.
Please contact the Nurse's office or call if you have any questions or concerns regarding your child.

Have a happy, healthy year!
