Hurricane Harvey Supply Drive  The Walton Football team is holding a drive to collect items desperately needed by families displaced by Hurricane Harvey. Please see the attached list and consider donating these items. Collection bins will be located in the atrium and outside the cafeteria during the week of September 5-8th. Cobb Special Education Parent Mentors  is offering first Parent University taking place at the Cobb County Safety Village on Saturday, September 9! Reflections Time Again!  Students, g et your creative juices flowing. Paint a masterpiece, choreograph an entertaining dance routine, compose a brilliant piece of music, pen a best-selling short story, shoot a memorable photograph, or produce a poignant film. Submissions will be judged on interpretation of the theme, creativity and technique. Washington DC Trip There is still room on the Walton Washington D.C. trip, January 13th-19th. (School days missed are with incentive.)  All current sophomores, juniors, and seniors are eligible.  Join Walton and several other high schools throughout the country as students get a unique hands on experience through Close Up as they get to debate with a liberal and conservative, meet with their congressman, tour monuments, see a show, and make friends and connections from throughout the U.S.. Truly a unique and unforgettable trip. The cost of the trip is $1964 and includes flight, hotel, 3 meals a days, tour fees, entrance fees, and more.  Please see Ms. Merlin (room 219) or Coach Kay (room 227) for information. 

Walton High School Community Day Fundraiser at SunTrust Park: 
  The Atlanta Braves and Walton High School invite you to Walton High School Community Day at SunTrust Park on Sunday, September 10th at 1:35 p.m.  All K-12 students and their families within the Walton community have been invited to attend this family-friendly event that will also raise money for each school. There are two sections of seats available: General Admission for $8 ($4 per ticket will return to WHS Athletics) and the Home Run Porch for $24 ($10 will return to WHS Athletics). We have a number of fun things planned for the Walton community, including Kids Run the Bases for all the Braves fans that are 14 years or younger. So you are not only getting a great Sunday afternoon outing at beautiful SunTrust Park, you will be raising money for your child's school as well.

Student Volunteer Hours Opportunity:  East Side Elementary Foundation Family Fun Night is coming up on Friday, September 8th!  Student volunteers are needed from 4:30 to 9:00 p.m.  Responsibilities include: helping monitor the playground area, face painting/tattoos for students.  Interested students should contact Katie Ewaskiew at  kewaskiew@gmail.com to volunteer.

Student Drop off & Pick Up Reminders:   For the safety of students, faculty, and visitors, this is a reminder that students should not be dropped off or picked up in the parking lot until the car reaches the front doors.  Also, the homeowners in the Princeton West Neighborhood have complained about student drop off and pickups on Old College Way.   They ask that parents only drop off and pick up on school property, and follow the no parking or stopping signs posted in their neighborhood.

PROBE College Fair:    Walton High School and the Walton PTSA are sponsoring the PROBE College Fair on Monday, September 11, 2017 from 6:00-9:00 p.m.   Over 150 colleges represented. Come speak with college representatives on topics such as: programs of study, campus life, housing, financial aid, admission requirements and scholarships.  Click HERE to see a list of colleges that will be attending.

Attention from the Counseling Department: Financial Aid Night has been moved to Thursday, November 9th.  Please update your calendars. It will be held in the Walton Theater at 6:30 pm. Our guest speaker will be Marcus Hilliard from the Georgia Student Finance Commission.  
 
Mock ACT, SAT Test and Testing Strategies:   Applerouth Tutoring Services are offering Mock ACT and SAT Exams and ACT and SAT Test Strategy workshops. Senior Breakfast Donation:  If you missed paying your Senior Breakfast donation at orientation, it's not too late.   We are asking all Seniors to contribute to the October 11th Senior Breakfast, that is loved and attended by all Senior students. If you have not yet made your $10.00 contribution you can pay online by clicking HERE and following these instructions:  Log into the PTSA website and select the Freshman Picnic and Senior Breakfast box and complete the transaction.  
For Freshman
Freshman Picnic Donation:  If you missed paying your Freshman Picnic donation at orientation, it's not too late.  We are asking all Freshman to contribute to the Freshman Picnic scheduled for September 13th and attended by all Freshman students. East Marietta Basketball for Girls and Boys Registration for the 2017 - 2018 season is now open online at  Register Here .  East Marietta is a competitive recreational league that plays its games at school and park facilities throughout East Cobb from October through the beginning of February.  All players, boys and girls, are required to register and attend evaluations mid-September, in order to play.  The evaluation dates for each group and contact information for any questions are contained on the website.   Every team has one practice and one game each week. The girls divisions are set up by school age (elementary, middle and high school divisions).  Each boys age group is separated into a more competitive division and a less competitive division to accommodate variation in skill levels and ensure that every player has a great experience.
