"The Surge is Coming -- Stay the Course"
A Special Message from Mayor Gutierrez
Now is not the time to let down our guard. Although we all hope that somehow we can be spared more illness and death from Covid-19, all the evidence tells us that the worst is still to come. As Mayor Yxstian Gutierrez reminds us in this brief video , we each have a vital role to play in the continuing effort to save lives: Stay home, maintain 6-foot distance, and wash hands regularly and thoroughly.
Riverside Co. Public Health Order:
Face Coverings REQUIRED for Essential Travel
Riverside County Public Health now REQUIRES all County residents and visitors to wear a face covering whenever away from home for ESSENTIAL TRAVEL -- which is the ONLY authorized travel. Officials believe the face coverings may help slow the spread of coronavirus. RivCo Public Health is the lead public agency directing coronavirus response in Riverside County.
What's the Plan for Your Pets If You Get Sick?
Following are a few simple steps for making a pet-care plan.

  • Find someone willing and able to take care of your pets. Check with family, friends, neighbors or even pet sitters and boarding facilities.

  • Gather your pet's necessities, such as two weeks' worth of food and medications, cat litter and litter box and a travel kennel.

  • Provide written instructions regarding each of your pets, including your contact information, your pet’s feeding schedule, any medical conditions and treatment directions, and contact information for their veterinarian.

  • Include contact information for family or friends who will know your medical status and give updates to your pet’s caregiver.

The Moreno Valley Animal Shelter rescues thousands of animals each year, but it’s not designed to provide long-term care. That’s up to you. Completing Census 2020 Could Help
Local Economic Recovery
When the Covid-19 crisis eventually wanes, it will leave a battered economy in its wake. The need for federal funding support will be greater than ever. And one of the most important ways federal funding for Moreno Valley will be determined for the next 10 years is with data collected in the 2020 Census, which is taking place right now. That's why all residents should take advantage of the statewide stay-at-home order and take five minutes to complete the Census . It's being taken primarily online at  www.census.gov , but it can also be completed by phone or on paper. It does NOT include any questions about citizenship or immigration status. And none of the personally identifiable information collected by the Census Bureau may be shared with any other government agency or private-sector entity, such as landlords.
