American Fork High School
Principal's Message

Show Kindness
Encourage your teenager to approach a student who is sitting alone in the cafeteria and ask to join them for lunch. Or they could invite the teen to eat at their table. Your high schooler will see how good it feels to do something kind, and they may even make a new friend.

Sincerely,
Daniel P. Weishar
Principal

CAREER AND INDUSTRY

AFHS CTE Pathway Completer:  Garrett Johns

Garrett will be completing a Commercial Photography Pathway this year at AFHS. He has excelled in his CTE classes including Digital Photo, Advanced Commercial Photography, Digital Media and Business Management. Digital Media also offered him a wide spectrum of opportunities to discover his talents and interests. Garrett has received multiple Skill Certifications to add to his Resume’ and career portfolio. During his high school career, he has been an officer of and competed in Skills USA, DECA, and FBLA. Garrett has earned state awards as well as taking first at the DECA & FBLA Herriman Invitational.
“The CTE program is a wonderful thing to participate in during school because it provides lots of awesome opportunities to explore career paths while doing things I love! It's really helped further my interest in the world of digital arts and opened lots of doors for me,” said Johns.
Ms. Frazier-Snyder has enjoyed teaching Garrett, working with him as the Director of Photography for the school newspaper, and advising him in Skills USA Competitions. “He is an inquisitive and dedicated student who is goal oriented and willing to work for the knowledge and experience he is gaining in CTE."
Garrett plans to attend UVU and then serve and LDS Mission. When he returns, he plans on pursuing his career in Graphic Design and Business.
