This Easter is different for many of us as we all continue to stay at home. Yet there is still plenty to do and time to unwind. Soak in some inspiration from our digital magazines, get crafty and discover other recreational content for all ages including free films and books these holidays.
Our library team has been busy preparing fun and educational activities for children and youth to try at home and online, as unfortunately we had to cancel our usually very popular April school holiday program this year. Keep an eye out for our next edition which will focus on STE(A)M learning. We also urge you to stay safe online as everyone is spending more time connecting in virtual ways.
Feel free to tell friends and families to sign up to our enews: bit.ly/canbaylibrariesnews or follow us on social media @canbaylibraries and let us know of any home projects. If you are on Instagram or Facebook, don't miss our new Friday Trivia Fun in our stories!

Australian Government eSafety Commissioner
The global impact of COVID-19 means young people are spending more time at home - and more time online. There are lots of great ways children can use connected devices to learn and play, but there are also risks.
As parents and carers, you have the best opportunity to support and guide your children to avoid online risks and have safer experiences. Governments and industry also have a role to play in making sure the online world is a safe place to be.
The Government's eSafety website covers some of the key online safety issues for young people but also all other age groups. It includes a range of practical tips to stay safe and advice on what to do if things go wrong.

Thingiverse design community
Looking for fun 3D models to print? Thingiverse is a fantastic starting point, with a vast catalogue of 3D designs with files ready to download. We recommend choosing a project with lots of "makes" already, like this adorable Easter Egg dispenser bunny! Remember to read the description: this bunny needs to be printed on its side so the 'print-in-place-hinge' joints won't fuse together. If you're having trouble printing this as one piece, consider printing the two separate parts and joining them post-print.
Make sure you take pictures of the printed bunnies filled with Easter eggs and post them on social media with the hashtag #3dprintclub and tag us @canbaylibraries

Curious about how to start 3D Printing? 'Slicing' is an essential part of the 3D printing process, as it transforms your 3D model file into code that your 3D printer can understand. At 3D Print Club, one of our favourite pieces of slicing software is Cura: it's free, it's powerful and it's user-friendly. The easy-to-use interface will give you enough to get started, but when you're ready to go deeper there's plenty of settings to control exactly how you want your 3D object to print.

To address our unprecedented global and immediate need for access to reading and research materials, the Internet Archive will suspend wait-lists for the 1.4 million (and growing) books in their lending library by creating a National Emergency Library to serve the world's displaced learners. Yes, you can access without living in the US!
This suspension will run through to 30 June 2020, or the end of the US national emergency, whichever is later.
