Our Commitment to Our Community
A message from CEO Philip Tavill:

As an agency dedicated to strengthening those most vulnerable within our community, we are reaching out to you, the members of our Children First family, directly: the children and families we serve, staff members, volunteers, supporters, and partners. Our highest priority is to ensure the health and well-being of the Children First family and we are committed to meeting needs
as they evolve.

Children First follows the Sarasota County School District protocol for school closure, and therefore, our children will also be on extended break through May 1. We are following the protocols and procedures endorsed by the CDC, the Florida Department of Health, our Governor and the Commissioner of Education. Our team is hard at work maintaining active communication with our children and families and continuing to meet their needs. We continue to monitor local updates from local, state, and national levels each day.

The Children First team continues our daily operations in
advancing our mission.

Our job as an agency is to transform lives.  For those we serve, we continue to be on the front lines making a
direct impact every day.

Our Family Services Team is assessing and meeting the individual needs of our children and families. Our Education Team is creating and distributing home learning kits with everything needed to get our children on their path to at-home educational success. Our Leadership Team is meeting daily to bring every resource possible to our children, families, staff and their families.

We have partnered with All Faith's Food Bank and the Boys & Girls Club of Sarasota County in order to bring more resources to our children and families through a regular food distribution at the Boys & Girls Club on Fruitville Road in Sarasota. Families from both programs are eligible to receive packages of food. If you are in need or have questions, please contact your Family Advocate for assistance.

Every Wednesday , several members of our staff will collect the packages from the Boys and Girls Club and bring them back to our main location on Orange Avenue for distribution to our families. Our Family Services Coordinator will deliver packages to our South County families in need.

We are deeply grateful to be able to continue serving our community at the highest possible level due to your support and generosity. Thank you for your commitment.
