Sharing a meal, I recently told a Kitchen Guest I respected him. "You respect me, why?" Because of your kindness to teens who beat you up, I don't know if I could do that, I said. "I would've killed them, if I had fought back." I said, and that is why I respect you. "Thank you for that." He said.

The Severe Cold Weather Protocol is activated when temperatures are anticipated to be extremely cold or severe weather conditions is predicted for Connecticut. Our outreach team goes out to engage with individuals needing immediate shelter, transportation, winter jackets or warm gear to coordinate a safety plan during this time. Assisting with diverting everyone identified based on their individual emergency need.

I received a greeting card from one of our regular guests that dines daily. Inside the card were signatures by multiple guests, the card was filled with positive comments and 'thank yous'! Really made my day!! It's a true testament to what we do here. Providing the best meal and service for anyone and everyone who joins us for lunch.

Every week MACC averages up to 200 Volunteers to assist each department smoothly. I have built relationships with many of our volunteers and find that it is a mutual feeling of wanting to be part of helping our community that drives them to come in and do the incredible work that they do. Come join us here at MACC Charities!

The MACC Pantry is grateful to welcome some new volunteers on board, as well as some returning UCONN students! Their enthusiasm, passion for nutrition, and eagerness to help the community are an incredibly valuable resource. Need service-learning hours for school? Give MACC a Minute and you can be part of the #NoHUNGERForManchester movement too! Your community needs your help!

Outreach Case Worker

Outreach is about knowing those we serve. We build those relationships by making connections on a personal level. Just the other day before lunch service started, I was outside throwing a football with four young siblings in town and talked about life, we learn about them personally. This creates a relationship of trust for future conversations when facing difficult times.
