Hillview requests that parents reinforce bike safety expectations with their children.
The Menlo Park police have been observing biking violations by Hillview students, such as, 2 and 3 riders across in the bike lane, ignoring traffic lights and stop signs, riding on the wrong side of the street.
Menlo Park Police have been kind in providing guidance through observations. Going forward their traffic division cannot continue to ignore the violations.
We want to protect the physical health of our students while encouraging a healthy way to get to and from school.

Introducing Peaceful Paws - A Therapy Dog Pilot Program at Hillview
|
|
Hillview announces participation in a pilot program to bring a highly-trained service dog from Canine Assistants to campus.
A Menlo Park family has a dog named Eclair. They are generously donating Eclair to Hillview for some time each week
A pilot group of Hillview students will have optional, regular visits, on campus, with Eclair, the service dog.
Eclair will be on campus under direct supervision of counselor Kellie Raczkowski or 6/7th grade teacher Jacky Schlegel on Tuesdays and Thursdays, starting Tuesday, February 25.

We encourage you to check in with your student to ensure they are on track to meet the promotion requirements:
- Achieve 1.5 GPA over the course of their three trimesters of 8th grade, in all classes that students receive an achievement grade
- A 50% grade or higher in all four core classes (Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies) during the third trimester
If your student does not meet BOTH of these requirements, they will not be allowed to participate in the annual 8th-grade Great America trip, the promotion ceremony, or the graduation night party.

- Wednesday, March 11, NYC-based Jessica Jones Jazz Quartet comes to Hillview thanks to the Jeanie Ritchie Grant. The quartet will work with our musicians. Later that evening in a Collaboration Concert featuring the Jessica Jones Quartet, the quartet will be joined by the Hillview Jazz Band, La Entrada Jazz Band, and the Stanford Jazz Workshop's Giant Steps Middle School Band.
- Thursday, March 12 Richard Vaughan presents the new Arts Standards and Framework at MPCSD board meeting. Hillview musicians will perform.
- Friday, March 13 Hillview 7/8 Concert Band at 5:00 pm and 7/8 Orchestra at 7:30 pm in the CMEA Band/Orchestra Festival at Graham Middle School. Free and open to the public. Come hear us!
- Sunday, March 15 Hillview Jazz Band performs at noon, San Mateo County Fairgrounds, Fiesta Hall as part of the SMCOE BIG THINK - Arts and STEM Fair event! For details here. Free and open to the public.
- 7/8 Concert Band and 7/8 Orchestra perform at elementary school assemblies - March 19, the orchestra at Oak Knoll, March 25, the Concert Band at Laurel.

Volunteers Needed for Stanford Research
Recruiting healthy individuals, ages 6-65, to participate in a research study about individuals with hypothalamic-pituitary disorders to better understand the underlying causes of social impairments in individuals with these disorders. Participation includes a one-time study visit where individuals will complete questionnaires, behavioral tests, and provide a blood sample. A variety of fun camps for actors ages 3 years old - high school. Join us for a Summer of the Absurd - Escape from the hubbub of daily routine into worlds where the impossible can (and does!) happen.
