Mission Conference and Synod 2020
Announcement from Bishop Julian Dobbs

Your faithfulness endures to all generations;
you have established the earth, and it stands fast.   Psalm 119:90

March 17, 2020

Greetings to each of you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

After consulting with the Standing Committee of the diocese, I have decided to postpone our April 30 Mission Conference and Synod until a later date in 2020.  Please note, we are postponing the Missions Conference and Synod rather than cancelling it.

The President's coronavirus guidelines for America currently include avoiding social gatherings of more than 10 people and avoiding discretionary travel.  Some of our congregations are in areas that are officially locked down to movement.  There are also restrictions in place in Montgomery County, PA where the conference was to be held.  Please work directly with airlines and hotels to make changes to your reservations.

Each of our speakers has been contacted and all of them are committed to joining us when the current circumstances allow for us to join together.  The Lord willing, our hosts at Immanuel Leidy Church in Souderton, PA are looking forward to us gathering later this year in Souderton, PA.

Our Missions Conference theme is, "Faithful to Keep His Word".  Our God is faithful and in Christ we are assured of his love, grace and  mercy.

As a diocese, we are doing everything we can to support clergy and congregations through this time. I have met with clergy and wardens via video conferencing and I remain in close contact with all of our Rectors.

I invite you to join with me in praying for our diocese, our nation and the world:

Most loving Father, you will us to give thanks for all things, to dread nothing but the loss of you, and to cast all our care on the One who cares for us. Preserve us from faithless fears and worldly anxieties, and grant that no clouds of this mortal life may hide from us the light of that love which is immortal, and which you have manifested unto us in your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

O Lord our Governor, whose glory fills all the world: We commend this Nation to your merciful care, that we may be guided by your providence, and dwell secure in your peace. Grant to the President of this Nation, the State Governors, and to all in authority, wisdom and strength to know and to do your will. Fill them with the love of truth and righteousness, and make them continually mindful of their calling to serve this people in reverent obedience to you; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, world without end. Amen.

Brenda joins me  in looking forward to seeing you and all the congregations and missions of our diocese to celebrate the faithfulness of our great God later this year.

Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.  Hebrews 10:23

With the assurance of my prayers.
