Remote Learning for Secondary Students/Statewide Assessments Canceled
Remote instruction to begin Monday, March 23
Dear North Allegheny Secondary School Families,

We hope that this email finds each of you well. As was shared last evening, North Allegheny School District will begin remote instruction for all grade levels on Monday, March 23. Below are specific instructions for middle and high school students to engage in Remote Learning. This email is being sent to both families and students. Students will receive their message directly from their school principal.

Guidelines on Remote Learning for Middle School and High School Students

We will be using Blackboard to access Remote Learning assignments.

Each day students should do the following:
  • Check-in for attendance by logging into TigerID and clicking on the Remote Learning Check-In App. Visit our website for directions.
  • Check your North Allegheny School District email at least once.
  • Log in to Blackboard to complete your assignments and check the Announcements. Lessons will be posted in a Remote Learning folder in your Blackboard courses. Teachers are available via email during the school day. The directory with contact information for teachers at each school is located below.
  • Carson Middle School
  • Ingomar Middle School
  • Marshall Middle School
  • NAI
  • NASH

Beginning Monday, March 23, 2020, teachers will be available online by subject area for Instructional Support Hours during the times below. Each teacher will share the method they will use to communicate during these office hours on their individual Blackboard account in their Remote Learning folder and on their Blackboard Announcements.
  • Grading Procedures
  • Week 1 (March 23-27): This week should be used to orient everyone to the Remote Learning Format. Assignments should receive no more than 10 points each, and be awarded for completion only.
  • Week 2 and beyond: Typical grading procedures apply.
  • Counselors will be available during the school day via email for support. They will also continue with any appointments previously made via conference call. The counselors/social workers will share the conference line via email with those students who are scheduled to meet with them. Reference this document to access counselor contact information.
  • Nurses will be available during the school day via email for support. Reference this document to access nurse contact information.
  • If at any time you need support and do not know who to ask, please reach out to your principal or assistant principal. Reference this document to access principal contact information.

For the remainder of this week, students and families are encouraged to continue to utilize online resources specific for each level (elementary, middle, high) to provide enrichment opportunities, reinforce prior learning, and provide a springboard for other independent learning activities. These resources are available on the District website.
