Dear GOA members,

The Georgia General Assembly voted to ratify Governor Brian Kemp's declaration of a state public health emergency. The GOA has been working closely with our legislators to understand the implications this will have on our profession.

As of this moment, the governor has not yet halted non-essential healthcare. This situation is evolving, and the GOA will continue to work diligently with our legislators and communicate any new developments as they pertain to optometry.

We are also monitoring federal and state guidelines for large events. The GOA annual meeting scheduled for June 11-14 at the Wild Dunes Resort in Isle of Palms, SC is proceeding as planned. We will update our members as the situation develops.

Out of an abundance of caution and care for our members and staff, I have approved the GOA will temporarily close its headquarters in Atlanta until further notice. However, the GOA staff will be working remotely and can be reached via the contact information listed below.

Our membership remains our number one priority, and the GOA staff is committed to maintaining business per usual in a time of uncertainty.

Thank you for your patience as we navigate this together. If you have any questions or concerns, we're here for you anytime.
