Dear MRA Members,

Tonight, Governor Baker announced that MA schools will shut down for three weeks, and on-premise dining at restaurants and hotels will be suspended effective Tuesday.  During the news conference he misspoke and indicated restaurants would close for on-premise until April 17th, I can confirm he meant restaurants will be able to reopen on the 6th and the release below will reinforce that.

Restaurants will be allowed to continue to offer delivery and take out sales. In fact, the administration believes that this is a very important service to offer the public, allows businesses to continue to employ some staff, and to ramp up larger recovery as quickly as possible.

In addition, the Governor will file a number of actions involving Unemployment Insurance for our employees on Monday morning. We have been focused and in conversations all week in regards to taking care of our people, and this has been paramount with the Governor and his team. For Boston operators, this now replaces what the Mayor announced earlier today.

We do not have all the answers tonight. We will continue to get those and provide factual updates as they become available. What we have is 24 hours to plan for a dramatic change in our operating plans and to communicate with our employees.
