Dear Colleague:
Things are ramping up as we get ready for a public celebration of our plans for a new facility! On the evening of September 8th, we are hosting a grand event to unveil the designs that our architects, engineers, project managers, construction contractors, and landscape specialists have planned as the new "home" for our College of Dentistry. I have been closely involved in this project, attending as many as ten meetings a week, and although I have seen each piece as it has been presented, I can hardly wait to see it all at once. The new Postle Hall will be a truly special place!
With the help of high-tech graphic designers and animators, our communications staff members are creating an audiovisual production for the event that will showcase the work of dozens of students, staff, and faculty members who have been involved in the years of planning for this facility. The video will be a marvel as it provides a virtual tour of the new facility that is the culmination of all we have imagined.
Our celebration will take place from 6:30 - 9:00 p.m., and it will coincide with another high profile event on campus -- the Ohio State vs. Oklahoma football game. On the eve of the big game, we will gather for this premiere that includes a walkthrough of Postle Hall, and the presentation of newly created images and the video that show what our new student lounge, pre-clinic labs, student clinics, radiology suite, and classrooms will look like. It will be an evening to remember!
I invite you to be part of this historic moment. It's been more than 45 years since we've made such an investment in our college, and I hope you can attend this special event. I know you will feel a great sense of pride as you hear about the exciting future that lies ahead for us. Our
family-friendly Buckeye Tailgate will be held in the Postle Hall courtyard from 12:30 - 3:30 p.m. Let's root for the home team as Ohio State's Buckeyes take on the Maryland Terrapins!

Dr. Erin Gross is the College's Director of Pediatric Dentistry
On August 1, Erin Gross, DDS, PhD, MS, an Assistant Professor-Clinical in the Division of Pediatric Dentistry, assumed a new role as the College of Dentistry's Director of Pediatric Dentistry.
Dr. Gross graduated from Ohio State's combined DDS-PhD degree program in 2009, after which she earned a Master of Science in Dentistry degree and a pediatric dentistry certificate. Following graduation, she served as a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry at New York University. She returned to Ohio and joined the college faculty in 2013.
Throughout the past four years, Dr. Gross has contributed to the college's education and service missions as a clinician who provides care for pediatric patients; as an advisor for pediatric dentistry residents; and as the faculty leader for the college's bi-annual Give Kids a Smile events. A board certified pediatric dentist, she is also a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, and the College of Diplomates of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.
As the college's Director of Pediatric Dentistry, Dr. Gross's duties include managing the pre-doctoral didactic and clinical curricula; creating a patient recruitment plan that enhances students' clinical experiences; and preparing materials for the college's 2020 accreditation site visit.

Pelotonia, August 4-6: Support Dentistry's Team!
