Dear Friends,

It is heartening to me that in the midst of these challenging times, the entire YWCA community – donors, staff, volunteers, board members – has come together to find innovative, creative ways to deepen the impact of our work. And with your help, we're doing it!

I am thrilled to share with you that we recently acquired a resale shop in Wilmette called Encore & More, which you can read about below. This is not only a new fundraising source, it also will give us a platform to provide job readiness training for the women we serve, giving them concrete skills that will help them move forward with their lives.

We are working on other exciting plans and fresh ideas that further the mission of YWCA Evanston/North Shore. I look forward to sharing more details with you in the months ahead. We really appreciate your continued support.

Thanks for all you do,

Karen Singer
President/CEO
Visit, shop, donate, and volunteer with YWCA at Encore!
In July, we acquired Encore & More, a quality resale shop located at 1107 Central Avenue in Wilmette. We'd love for you to come visit (get a jump on your fall wardrobe at great prices at the same time!) We welcome your donations of new and gently used women's clothing, jewelry, shoes, handbags, and small housewares. And if you're interested in volunteering, we'd love your help!

We’re excited about our annual YWomen celebration, which will be held on Saturday, October 13, at the beautiful Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel in Chicago. We'll honor three remarkable women leaders -- Vicky Dinges, Gloria Bond Clunie, and Kelley Cambry -- and enjoy dinner, dancing, and great company!

Tickets are on sale now, and early bird ticket pricing ends September 15th. Please join us for this inspiring event! You can learn more about YWomen here.
We have a New Website!
You may have noticed that our website has a fresh new look. If you haven’t yet visited our updated site, you can do so at www.ywca-ens.org.

One of the new features we like best is the Calendar, which shows you everything we have coming up throughout the year.

You'll find the calendar on the "Get Involved" drop down menu at the top, along with links to Events, Volunteer, and Ways to Give.

Please explore and let us know if there's anything we can do to make it better!
Evanston Teens Learn About Healthy Masculinity

Longtime YWCA Volunteer Honored
We extend our warmest congratulations to Elaine Macejak who recently received Shore Community Services’ John S. Hubner Volunteer of the Year award. For the past 57 years, Elaine has worked in concert with YWCA Evanston/North Shore to provide social programs for individuals with special needs. She truly is an exemplary volunteer and humanitarian.
Flying Fish End Summer Season on a High Note
Matt Gibson (in orange) took second place in the 13-14 boys 200-meter butterfly at the Illinois Swimming Summer Age Group Championships. Even better, his time (2:08.37) was the fourth fastest in Illinois history for 13-14 boys in this event. You can read more about the summer season here.

Also, the Flying Fish Swim Team is holding tryouts for the upcoming season for those who have not previously been part of the team or lesson program. Learn about this outreach here.
