Dear fellow classicists,

The Institute of Classical Architecture & Art (ICAA) treasures the support of all our members, donors, and friends, and during these unprecedented times, we offer our sincerest wishes for the safety, health, and well-being of all.

Although the ICAA has taken the precaution of postponing planned lectures, courses, travel programs, and more, we hope that you will take advantage of the abundant resources available online at classicist.org , including documentaries, AIA-approved online courses, filmed lectures, articles, issues of the Classicist , and so much more.

The staff of the National Office is currently working remotely, but we are still available to answer any questions you may have about our plans or upcoming programs. Please don't hesitate to reach out by email or by phone (office phones are currently forwarding to our personal cell phones). We will also be working hard to bring you additional content over these coming weeks.
Two entries in the ICAA’s original documentary series are available to view online: On Location with James Ivory brings viewers into the home of legendary filmmaker James Ivory, who shares the story of his career and the central role of architecture in the iconic films of Merchant Ivory.

Robert A.M. Stern: Always a Student brings renowned architect Robert A.M. Stern to the screen, where he describes the central role that education plays in his career and architectural practice.

This one-of-a-kind, four-part educational video series is led by architectural historian Calder Loth, who provides a thorough introduction and overview of the elements of the classical language, including Greek Classicism, Roman Classicism, Motifs & Details, and Classical Design Principles. Each episode is accompanied by a quiz offering the potential to earn AIA Learning Units.

Join architect, historian, and Arthur Ross Award winner Norman Davenport Askins on a tour of the architectural highlights of Atlanta in the Classical City Guide: Atlanta , and architectural historian Francis Morrone for an exploration of classical masterpieces in New York City in the Classical City Guide: New York .

Issues of the Classicist , the ICAA’s annual peer-reviewed journal, are available online at classicist.org . We are pleased to announce that the most recent edition of the Classicist , which explores the historic and contemporary architecture in Chicago, is newly available for download .

Although nothing can compare to an in-person visit to the ICAA's beautiful Cast Hall, the collection of plaster casts (including pieces deaccessioned from The Metropolitan Museum of Art) is available to browse online . Sort by provenance and category to learn more about this unique collection.

Additional Offerings
There is so much more available online at classicist.org: filmed lectures and public programs (including the complete Treasures from Chatsworth Series ), panel discussions, and numerous online articles provide an opportunity to stay connected with the ICAA.

Stay tuned for more original online content coming soon.
