Sally Blount wrote a guest piece about this year's list of Chicago's most powerful women in business and why the number of women CEOs is list low.

Because residents value parks, we rightfully pay more for recreation in Illinois than the national average."  Read more...

The panel discussion "Designing Cities for Equity and Justice" featuring MarySue Barrett and Carol Ross Barney was hosted at the downtown offices of Ross Barney Architects in July. There was much discussion around the Riverwalk and how it is a space that promotes equity.  The wide range of the river means that it can act as a focal point for local color and culture from neighborhood to neighborhood, and that's good in "a city that has many [cultures] and celebrates many," said MarySue Barrett.

"We can talk about the whole city in terms of systems, and how justly they serve different neighborhoods," said Carol Ross Barney.
