An Invitation to Write

" Our worst foes are not belligerent circumstances, but wavering spirits ... "
~Helen Keller, "The Story of My Life"

Many of us have felt our spirits wavering during this challenging time. When you feel this way, what do you do, think, or write to bolster yourself? Go!

Virtual Circles Keep Us Connected
What a journey we have taken together in the last few weeks. Born of necessity, the experience of transitioning our writing circles to virtual circles has demonstrated the deep intentionality and heartfelt connections we continue to offer each other in the midst of physical isolation. We are grateful that so many of you are now online with your writing circles!

While nothing can replace meeting in person, it is a welcome delight to see how well this can work to keep circles together, form new ones, and continue writing and listening to each other. Class members express that, now more than ever, community is what we need:

"Sharing this writing with my small group is my only outlet. I cannot share these thoughts with friends or family. It makes all the difference to write together and share at this time, to help me process what is going on" (anonymous virtual circle participant).

At Women Writing for (a) Change, we will keep doing everything possible to encourage writing in community, to process what is happening as individuals and as a society, and to offer a safe place for individual expression and creativity. In addition to offering all of our current classes virtually, we will continue sharing poetry readings and writing prompts on social media to help you stay connected with your writer self and our writing community.

How You Can Help
As WWf(a)C leans into the uncertainty of these times, please consider the ways you can help keep Women Writing for (a) Change strong and healthy:

  1. Sign up for classes! In addition to our current virtual offerings for early Spring, you will continue to see new offerings launching for Summer 2020.
  2. Purchase gift vouchers for yourself or others. Focus on the future by encouraging the writers in your life--including yourself!
  3. Transform all or a portion of a class refund into a donation. If it's financially feasible for you, any gift is greatly appreciated.
  4. Make a special contribution NOW. Your financial support of Women Writing for (a) Change now will move us forward with strength, integrity, and purpose. Thank you.
