KC Flight Formation Team.

EXCITEMENT SOARS DURING THE 2018 LAKE OF THE OZARKS AIR SHOW
Lake of the Ozarks, MO - Spectators can enjoy all the high-flying fun with a full day of aerial acrobatics performed by some of the best professional stunt pilots in the Midwest during the 2018 Lake of the Ozarks Air Show, Saturday, Sept. 22.
The Lake of the Ozarks Air Show, now in its eighth year, takes place at the Camdenton Memorial Lake Regional Airport, 20 Airport Drive near Camdenton, and draws a crowd of around 10,000 people to view the planes in action, meet the pilots and enjoy the festive atmosphere. The Air Show runs from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. and admission is free for all attendees. There will be a convenient free shuttle running throughout the event for those parking at the Camdenton High School parking lots. Parking on site at the airport is available for $10 per car.

Pilot Brian Correll, of Brian Correll Airshows and Team Vortex, has been performing at the Air Show since its inception in 2011. Correll, who is based in Wichita, Kan., says he always enjoys performing at the Lake of the Ozarks Air Show. Correll adds that it's a unique experience for him in that this air show not only attracts people from the local communities but a lot of vacationers from other parts of Missouri and surrounding states as well.
"The crowds that come out for the Lake of the Ozarks Air Show are amazing," says Correll. "During the performance, you don't really notice the crowd that much because you're focused on flying, but before and after, that's when it's great for the pilots. You have people coming up to you asking for photos and autographs and that makes it special. Seeing all the families and getting to talk with them -- maybe their grandpa flew planes or their kids are really into aviation -- I love interacting with everyone and hearing those stories."

Attendees will have the opportunity to see Correll perform his impressive aerial stunts in his modified Pitts biplane as well as low-flying aerobatics performed by his fellow Team Vortex member, Bob Richards, in his Pitts S1SS bi-plane. Team Vortex - Correll and Richards - will perform opposing head-on passes and dueling stunts as part of Saturday's activities.
In addition, there will be
thrilling synchronized feats by the KC Flight Formation Team.
The 17-member KC Flight Formation Team is Kansas City's largest home-grown civilian formation team and they regularly perform synchronized stunts and flyovers during professional sporting events for the Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals.

Also on the program are Jeff Shetterly's Radial Rumble routine, where Shetterly will peform old-school precision "warbird" aerobatics in his 1945 North American SNJ-6 "Texan," and flyover demonstrations by Lee Crouch in his pristine 1947 Super Stearman open cockpit bi-plane. There also will be flyovers and demonstrations by pilots John Fester, Vincent Hill and Bob Bull.
To add to the fun, early in the day local race car driver Kenny Carroll will race his souped up, 700-horsepower 1985 Chevrolet Monte Carlo along the airport runway against Shetterly's "39F," which will be flying overhead. Later in the afternoon, Carroll will pit his Monte Carlo against Team Vortex as well.

The B-25J Mitchell Bomber named "Show Me" is part of the Missouri Wing of the Commemorative Air Force. Pre-selected veterans will have the opportunity to fly in this historical bomber on Friday, Sept. 21. The bomber will be on display throughout the Air Show on Saturday.

As a special way for the event organizers and the community to express their gratitude for the service and sacrifice many made during the second World War and/or the Korean War, veterans that completed the application process and were chosen to participate, will have the opportunity to fly in the Commemorative Air Force vintage B-25J Mitchell WWII bomber named "Show Me" on Friday, Sept. 21. Due to the generosity of various sponsors, these pre-arranged flights are provided for free for veterans who served their country. There also will be free food for any veteran that stops by the airport that Friday afternoon. The bomber will be on display throughout the Air Show on Saturday.
"We say the air show is a 'salute to our veterans,'"
says Trish Creach, executive director of the Camdenton Area Chamber of Commerce, one of the sponsoring organizations and organizers of the Air Show. "A huge part of the Lake of the Ozarks Air Show is showing our appreciation for our area veterans, the heroes that have given so much to our country. It's very important for us to be able to show our appreciation by offering such a unique opportunity. For many, being in flight in the 'Show Me' bomber is an incredible experience that they will never forget."

The Lake of the Ozarks Air Show is a salute to area veterans and a treat for anyone that enjoys planes and aviation.

Other Air Show activities on Saturday include a breakfast served in Hanger D from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m., which costs $5 for veterans and $6 for the general public. The opening ceremonies take place from 10:20 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. before all the high-flying action takes off. Throughout the day there will be two ping pong ball drops, which are very popular with the children in attendance. For this particular event, an airplane soars into the sky and drops hundreds of ping pong balls across the tarmac and surrounding grounds. The kids then run to retrieve the balls and turn them in to receive numerous prizes, such as free passes to Big Surf Waterpark and Bridal Cave. There also will be remote control airplanes as well as a Kids Area with several bounce houses, located in the food court court area at the airport, sponsored by the Sharing and Caring Foundation and Old Kinderhook Resort.

There will be many local vendors on-site selling snacks and refreshments; therefore, outside food and beverages are not permitted at the event.
Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets for their personal comfort. All proceeds will be invested back into the air show as well as donated to local community charities.
