PREACHING THIS FALL

"The Adventure of Discipleship:

Real Questions, Real Challenges, Real Joy, Real Faith

All Are Welcome. Join Us!
Gentle reader,
It's Rally Sunday!   It's a day to dive back into the routine is of the school year, a day to reconnect with friends who've been scattered through the summer, And a time to dream big as we sharpen our pencils and imagine all that's possible ahead!

This fall at St. Paul Lutheran will be focusing on The Adventure of Discipleship! Jesus will be leading us down some challenging trails and will come out the other side stronger and more confident then when we began. It will be a time of real questions, real challenges, real joys, and real faith. It won't always be easy, but it will be worth it! :-) Come join the adventure!  It may just change your life!

We begin the fall schedule this very Sunday!
8:30
Looking forward to seeing you there!
Pastor Grant
Luke 14:26
Jesus turned and said to them,
"Those who come to me cannot be my disciples unless they love me more than they love father and mother, wife and children,
brothers and sisters, and themselves as well."

This Sunday, September 9 th, is the day to start signing up for an Amazing (G)Race Team!
Some team leaders have already been selected.   You may join an existing team or become a free agent and get drafted!   What is the Amazing (G)Race?   It is a team-oriented service event open for members 5 - 105 years old that will run from October 7th to November 18th.  Teams will decide what service project(s) they want to do and when they want to do it.  A packet of ideas will be handed out on October 7th to all team leaders, but each team is free to brainstorm their own ideas.  Points will be given for all service events completed as well as your team's work to grow your faith.  Bible studies, worship attendance and special class offerings will all earn more points for your team.  We want all members to join in this blow out service event in honor of our 150th Anniversary!   Please note that October 10th is a food packing event at Feed My Starving Children.   Even if you are not currently on a team, please sign up as an easy way to get points for your team!

BIBLE 101 CLASS COMING TO SPLC!

You have questions! Pastor Grant has some pretty good answers!

Have you ever found yourself looking at a Bible quote And a billboard or somewhere else out in the world or hearing something at church and wishing you knew more? As the new year begins, Pastor Grant will be hosting a two session Bible 101 class.

Ask your questions, get some answers! Using Maps video and visuals of all kinds, Pastor Grant will walk you through who wrote the Bible, some of the major characters in it, and the over arching story lines that wind all the way through it.

Class will be directed by the questions and interest of those involved. Come and engage this book and your curiosity around. Come grow your confidence in working with this central part of our faith. Come and join the conversation that is going on ... "I am with him through our holy Bible!"

Sunday, September 16th and Sunday, September 23rd at noon.  See You There!

AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM YOUR CHURCH COUNCIL

"Give Back to Pay It Forward" is a celebration of St. Paul Lutheran Church's 150th Anniversary. St. Paul Lutheran has had a rich history over the last 150 years and we are looking at continuing that legacy well into the future. As a result we are challenging the entire congregation from, July 29th 2018 through the end of the year, to participate in a matching contributions initiative.

Several members of the congregation have generously offered to match any funds given that are above and beyond the regular weekly giving by the remainder of the congregation.

In order to have your contribution matched, please use your preferred method of donating (envelope, bill pay, online giving), but remember to clearly note that the donation is for "Matching Funds".

As the year progresses we will continue to update the congregation on the success of this initiative.
Wedne sday, Sept. 19  -  6:30 pm SPLASH 5/6 begins.  SPLASH is a pre-confirmation program for 5th and 6th graders.  Kids meet with Janet in the Youth Room almost every Wednesday  night from 6:30 - 8 pm
