Boxes and trolleys and tape, oh my! A big move for the Federation: In case you did not hear, the Federation had a big move at the beginning of February. Just as we do at Congress, we all pulled together to make the move a success, and our new office is starting to feel like home.  Read about the move and see pictures of the new space.

The Federation supports the translation of Canadian Political Science Association's report on Open Access: The movement for open access (OA) is rapidly gaining support in the scholarly publishing community. In principle, it is in the interest of the Canadian Political Science Association (CPSA) and the Société québécoise de science politique (SQSP) to support the OA movement. But OA also creates its own challenges. Read more.

UManitoba diversity push in education department: The University of Manitoba has doubled the number of minorities studying to be teachers - years after introducing an aggressive target to admit nearly half of all education students from diverse backgrounds. Three in 10 students in the faculty of education are now classified as belonging to the U of M's diversity categories. Read more.

SSHRC announces International Policy Ideas Challenge 2020: SSHRC is pleased to announce the launch of the fifth edition of the International Policy Ideas Challenge call for proposals, organized in partnership with Global Affairs Canada. This is a great opportunity to support graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, and Early Career Researchers with hands-on training and mentorship across government to catalyze the transfer of research knowledge into policy briefs that address emerging international policy challenges.  Read more.   
Chief Science Advisor of Canada announces Roadmap for Open Science: The Roadmap outlines next steps that should be taken to make federal science open to all, while respecting privacy, security, ethical considerations and appropriate intellectual property protection. Read more.
Participate in consultations for the 2020-22 National Action Plan on Open Government: Every two years, the Open Government team establishes a National Action Plan. From now until May 1, 2020, they will be connecting with Canadians online to get their input. Visit the website to find out how to participate. 
Canada-UK initiative invests in AI research at Canadian institutions: Ten international research projects involving universities in Canada and the UK are set to receive approximately $5 million and £5 million from the federal government over the next three years as part of a transatlantic artificial intelligence (AI) initiative. New book analyzes Indigenous self-governance in Canadian Arctic: Three Inuit regions in Canada have taken the necessary steps toward self-governance: Nunavik in northern Quebec, the Inuvialuit Settlement Region in the western Northwest Territories, and Nunatsiavut in northern Labrador.
