Business Owners' Newsletter

Help during the COVID-19 Pandemic

Newsletter # 2 March 30, 2020

Dear Retailers,

First, I hope this second newsletter continues to find you and your family healthy and safe. I know this is a very stressful and uncertain time, BMS is here to help in any way we can. Please review topics in this newsletter designed to help you through this difficult time.

  • BIG news for NJ small businesses, NJDEA has approved low interest loans and GRANTS. Make sure to read the details.

  • We have created a graphic for everyone to use on their social media to highlight supporting our downtown, see details below.

  • Virtual First Friday is on! Participation is optional as always, but the idea is to provide some fun and distraction for our community all while giving them a format to support our historic downtown shopping district if they are able. Please read on to see how to be included on our website for Virtual First Friday April 3rd.

  • FREE Webinar offered from Downtown NJ, registration required

  • Health regulations and information for Food Establishments from the Town of Boonton & Health Department

  • Additional assistance information and contacts for elected officials

We at BMS are doing our very best to keep you up to date about programs available to small business owners during this uncertain time, while keeping the greater Boonton area aware of how to support our downtown businesses. If you have any suggestions, additional resources to share, or a question we can help with, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Wishing you all health and strength,

Laura and the BMS Board of Trustees

NJ Assistance Programs

Many new programs are being added to help small business owners. Please visit the BMS Retailers' Corner for the most up to date information. In addition, this wizard created by the NJ Economic Development Authority (beta version) is a great place to start. Use the buttons to navigate to NJEDA most current updates or go right to the wizard to get started. The small business grant that has been approved will be opening the application process some time this week, it will be on a first come first serve basis so please check the site often. BMS will send out a blast via email as soon as we know it's open. The wizard is a useful tool to help sort through all the programs you might be eligible for.

BMS weekly Newsletter to the Community

Many retailers missed out on our weekly newsletter opportunity to showcase how your business is operating during this time. Please continue to send all updated info to media@boontonmainstreet.org and we will add it to the next newsletter as well as update it on our website. We will be putting out another newsletter tomorrow or Wednesday this week with all the additions and updating the website.

Please send all submissions for the weekly community newsletter to media@boontonmainstreet.org by Friday at 5pm, the newsletter will go out weekly on Monday mornings. Please share this with your neighboring businesses as some do not receive our emails. Beyond this week, the website will be updated as often as possible, and a weekly newsletter will be sent. Retailers will not need to submit info every week unless there is a change, we will carry information over from the previous newsletter.

Unifying Graphic

The board has approved printing of this graphic in a 2'x3' banner for each and every retailer to hang in their window. We will also be hanging a banner with a similar message at the top and bottom of Main Street. More info to come about distribution as soon as signs are available. Download the graphic here in PDF format, or save it from the image below in PNG format. Please help spread this throughout our community by sharing within your networks. BMS would like to thank Steve Kampschmidt, BMS President and owner of Freedom Found Financial located at 408 Main St., for donating costs to design the logo. Another thank you goes to Mara of StretchSource at 416 Main St for suggesting the unifying theme and use of the logo.
