SPD Honor Guard

Mourning Badge and Pins

The mourning band on the police badge is the traditional way for a law enforcement officer to publicly mourn the death of a fellow officer.  It is very symbolic and is worn with great respect.

The Seattle Police Honor Guard is offering Mourning Badges for sworn personnel.  Sworn personnel are authorized to wear these special badges following a line of duty death, in place of putting a mourning band (elastic or electrical tape) on their existing badge .  Your serial number will be engraved on the badge (Sergeants and above may choose to display their title rather than the serial number - Lieutenants and above may also choose to receive a gold badge).

We are also offering lapel pins for both sworn and non-sworn personnel.  Civilians may wear these lapel pins to honor officers who are killed in the line of duty.  (Please note that lapel pins will NOT display your serial number or title).

These badges and lapel pins are a very respectful and dignified way to pay respect to officers who are killed in the line of duty.

THE LAST DAY TO ORDER IS JUNE 14th  -  ITEMS WILL BE DELIVERED BY EARLY AUGUST

Badge donations are $85 each

Lapel Pin donations are $15 each

Proceeds from this fundraiser will go to support the Seattle Police Department's Honor Guard.  The funds raised will assist the Honor Guard with uniform and equipment maintenance and travel expenses.

SPD's Honor Guard was formed in 1932 and is one of the Nation's oldest active Honor Guard Units. Members have provided military style honors at funerals and memorial services for fallen officers.  The Honor Guard posts Colors at Department-sponsored events and represents the Department at yearly police memorial services at the state capitol, our nation's capitol, and services for Peace Officers killed in the line-of-duty throughout the nation.
