Dear Epilepsy Foundation Texas Camper Families,

It is with a heavy heart I inform you that the Epilepsy Foundation Texas (EFTX) is suspending all 2020 summer camping programs. This difficult decision was reached by the EFTX Board of Directors and the EFTX Leadership Staff after considerable deliberation and reflection on the safety and well-being of our campers, counselors and medical teams during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Epilepsy Foundation Texas launched our amazing camping program in 1991 when 40 children attended Camp Spike ‘n’ Wave. In the 29 years since, more and more children have experienced the joy and adventure of Spike ‘n’ Wave, Neuron and Kaleidoscope. From that first group of 40 youngsters, we have grown to over 300 campers each year.

I know how much our campers, their families, our volunteers and staff look forward to the life-changing excitement of camp, so although we can’t offer a traditional camp experience this summer, we remain dedicated to keeping the spirit of camp alive through a virtual camp for our campers and volunteers.

Our team is working on creative ways in which virtual camp can offer the fun of camp: energizers, dance challenges, arts and crafts, and a whole lot more, all from the safety of home. As we develop virtual activities, we welcome any and all ideas you might have.

Unquestionably this is a challenging time for us all, but we are dedicated and determined to come back stronger than ever for summer season 2021, as we celebrate the 30th Anniversary of our camping program.

Now more than ever we ask for your continued support of the Epilepsy Foundation Texas. If you haven’t done so, please join us for the June 7th EFTX Virtual Walk to End Epilepsy at texaswalktoendepilepsy.org and if you can donate so that we can continue to provide programs and services that make an incredible impact on the families that we serve.

Sincerely Yours,
