A Special Message from Mayor Gutierrez
There's a lot of information out there regarding coronavirus and the many effects the crisis is having on both health and the economy. How can you tell what's valid and helpful? As Mayor Yxstian Gutierrez explains in this brief video , we've taken the guess-work out of it by compiling and continually updating a comprehensive guide to community resources. It's on the City website at www.moval.org/coronavirus .
Drive-thru Coronavirus Testing Site
Opened at Perris Fairgrounds
A fourth Riverside County drive-thru coronavirus testing site opened this week at the Perris Fairgrounds. The site will test only those who show symptoms and have called ahead to make an appointment. Call 1-800-945-6171 to discuss your symptoms and make an appointment. Perris Fairgrounds is located at 18700 Lake Perris Drive . Here's How You Can Help Your Neighbors
in Need of Food
One positive in this coronavirus crisis has been the City's creation of the MoVal Meals program, a pick-up and home-delivery supplemental nutrition service for seniors age 60+ and residents with disabilities. It's been operating at capacity since it began, providing much-needed food for 500 residents each week, and many people have asked how they can help. So a GoFundMeCharity account is now available, and no contribution is too small or too large. You can learn more about MoVal Meals on the City's website at www.moval.org/food .
Clean Hands Save Lives:
Hand Hygiene is Crucial to Slowing the Spread
Consider all the common items we touch -- or used to touch -- nearly every day, from door handles to gas pumps, shopping carts, credit cards and restaurant menus, just to name a few. It's the perfect way for coronavirus and any other disease to spread, which makes proper hand hygiene one of the most effective ways to slow the spread of disease . Each time we take time to properly wash hands with soap and water, we strike a blow against coronavirus and other nasty contagions out there!
Completing Census 2020 Could Help
Local Economic Recovery
When the Covid-19 crisis eventually wanes, it will leave a shaken economy in its wake. The need for federal funding support will be greater than ever. And one of the most important ways federal funding for Moreno Valley will be determined for the next 10 years is with data collected in the 2020 Census, which is taking place right now . That's why all residents should take advantage of the statewide stay-at-home order and take five minutes to complete the Census . It's being taken primarily online at  www.census.gov , but it can also be completed by phone or on paper. It does NOT include any questions about citizenship or immigration status. And none of the personally identifiable information collected by the Census Bureau may be shared with any other government agency or private-sector entity, such as landlords.
