Legislative Update

CMCI has a special alert for all CCMs regarding Louisiana House Bill 748, which is the hot topic of debate in Louisiana. If the bill becomes law, it would prohibit anyone in Louisiana from identifying themselves as "certified" or using the term "certification" to refer to any professional credentials that are not given by a government agency, including the Certified Construction Manager designation. CMCI believes that qualified CCMs are critical to the success of capital construction projects and is following the debate closely. We are encouraged that many other organizations from across a wide range of industries are joining with us to register concerns about this proposed bill, and the Louisiana Senate is considering an edited version of the bill that addresses the concerns.
