Grandparents & Special Friends Day
regretfully cancelled for this year
The coronavirus outbreak is here in Colorado, and we are monitoring the situation closely in collaboration with the local, state, and federal public health officials that set policy for communities and schools.

Based on concerns about travel and gatherings, we have decided to cancel this year's Grandparents & Special Friends Day, which was originally scheduled for May 8. Many apologies for any inconvenience. However, Grandparents are still warmly welcome at any of the regularly scheduled events listed below.
Scenes from campus & beyond
mind, body, spirit
Clean hands, happy kids: speaking of staying healthy, everyone at school is paying attention to the most important thing we can do to prevent the spread of illness: washing hands. Kindergarten teacher Shelley Gill Meisler and two of her students demonstrate one fun way that children are practicing proper handwashing technique. Watch the video. See our page of updates on the coronavirus outbreak here.
The All-School Play was once again a sold-out success at the Wheeler Opera House. Eighth Graders wrote a script that involved a dystopian future, student heroes who are saved by their love of reading, and a triumphant, hopeful ending.
This was yet another amazing Aardvark production pulled together by drama teacher Marci Sketch and her team. Bravo!
Learning with intention: After this year's Eighth Graders read Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird in English class, they were motivated to learn more about the justice system. They had an unusual opportunity to express their passion to the topic. They traveled to the state Capitol and testified on SB-100, a measure that has repealed the death penalty in Colorado. Blue Green Score: 2:0: with the Blue Team victorious in both the fall and the winter games, it's a tough road to the May championships for the Green Team. Check out the Blue Green Winter Games photos here.
Ski Day traditions: Aspen Country Day School children take full advantage of our location in the heart of the Rockies in our "ski for P.E." afternoons. Gym class was never so sunny!
This winter saw a surge in popularity of nordic skiing.
More Ski Day traditions: Eighth Graders make "propaganda posters" to promote this week's final ski day of the school year, when the entire school heads over to Buttermilk together for an afternoon of skiing, festivities, and games. It has been a wonderful winter!

Blue Green Night: the big party Saturday, April 4
This year's annual benefit party has a new twist. Instead of a formal gala with a live auction, this will be a fun community dance party.

Tickets are $50, and Blue Green Night is all about the Fifty by Fifty Capital Campaign that is in its final public phase. Anyone who has not already made a gift to the campaign is encouraged to do so before or at the party at www.aspencountryday.org/bluegreen

At this time, Blue Green Night is all systems go, but we continue to evaluate this and all other events in light of the virus outbreak. Stay tuned for updates.
Lower School Shakespeare Festival May 5-8
Each child in Kindergarten through Fifth Grades takes to the stage for the Lower School Shakespeare Festival. From Kindergarteners stirring a witches' brew in Macbeth to a mob of Fifth Graders shouting in Julius Caesar, the Festival brings the classic works to life for younger children.

What's outstanding about the Aspen Country Day School Shakespeare Festival is not just its ambitious schedule (posted below), but all the learning that comes before the first player steps on stage.

campaign once considered "impossible" is now so close
help us reach the summit!
When Aspen Country Day School announced its goal of "Fifty by Fifty" for a capital campaign to fund our campus renovation and endowment, there were those who said it couldn't be done. Now, the campus is complete, the endowment is growing, and the goal of $50 million is SO close. Thanks to all who have made this possible.
You can direct your capital gift to something you truly believe in: to support a program like the All-School Play or in honor of a teacher.
Want to participate but not ready to make a gift? Consider a pledge to help meet the goal.
Outdoor Ed has always been such an important pillar of our program -- help it continue for generations.
