Activities and Collaboration with IIT Roorkee
(2003 - Present)



Our motto: By the alums, For the alums





IITRHF is a US non-profit organization, enabling US donors to get tax deductions.
To date, IITRHF platform has facilitated US $450,000+ in donations to IITR for programs such as establishing Chair Professor, Best Faculty Award, Alumni Energy Center, and batch-wide grants during Silver, Coral, Ruby, and Golden Jubilee visits. http://www.iitrhf.org/directed-donor s

IITRHF is fortunate to have several Distinguished Alumni steering the Foundation. Three of our current Board members, two of our past Board members, and several of our Advisors have been felicitated with IIT Roorkee Distinguished Alumni awards. http://www.iitr-heritagefund.org/distinguished-alumni-awards

IITRHF Programs include:  
  • 50 annual excellence awards of Rs 5 Lac, spread across all departments for Bachelors and Masters students
  • Travel grants for Research paper presentation
  • Annual business plan competition sponsorship of Rs 1.5 Lac
  • One year all-expenses paid industry internship at Cisco US
  • Summer research internships under IITR alumni faculty in US
  • Supplemental grants for research internship abroad
  • Facilitate guest lecture by US based alumni during their visit to IITR campus
  • Facilitate directed donations to IITR

2003

Hosted Dy. Director K. G. Ranga Raju at PanIIT 2003 in California

2004-2005

Hosted Director Prem Vrat in California, and took him to meet VP's at Intel and Cisco, and Deans of Engineering at Stanford and UC Berkeley for collaboration, resulting in equipment grants for Labs by Intel and Cisco Telephony at IITR's E&C Department (in the back building on 2nd/ 3rd floor).

2006
Led Cisco research delegation to meet Director and HOD's at leading Indian Universities, including IITR, to encourage faculty and students to write grant proposals and tap into multi-million $ Cisco research funding.

Sponsored Prof K. K. Garg (E&C) visit to Cisco US to submit grant proposals.
2007

Hosted Director S. C. Saxena in California, and took him to meet VP's at Cisco and Nvidia, and Deans at Stanford, UC Berkeley, and San Jose State University for collaboration.

Partnered with Cisco for IITR campus-wide upgrade of networking, wireless, telephony, and video-conference, at 90% educational discount.
07/07/07
Birth of IITRHF

Launch ceremony with Director S.C. Saxena, visiting IITR faculty, and 50+ IITR alums at Pan IIT conference, at Santa Clara Convention Center, California.


2008:  Partnered with Cisco to sponsor 16th IEEE conference, organized by E&C, IITR






2009:  IITRHF seal approved by Director S. C. Saxena
2009-2020
Conduct Annual Business Plan competition and mentoring for IITR student entrepreneurs. During the initial years, IITRHF provided mentors to coach IITR startups, and later collaborated with TIDES and E-cell. For the past few years, IITRHF has sponsored the E-Summit competition. http://www.iitr-heritagefund.org/entrepreneur-mentoring
2009-2019
Conduct annual award ceremonies at IITR for distributing 50+ excellence awards, presided over by one or more of these distinguished members: Director S. C. Saxena, Director Pradipta Banerji, Dy. Director S. P. Gupta, Prof Prem Krishna, Dean Sandeep Singh, Dean B. R. Gurjar and select faculty members. http://www.iitr-heritagefund.org/heritage-awards








2012-2015

Grant travel funds to dozens of students to present research paper at Tier-1 conference. After 4 years of this program, Dean Sandeep Singh advised IITRHF to conclude this program, since IITR started a similar program.
2013

Partnered with Cisco to add India students for an all expenses paid 1-year internship in US. Worked with IITR to allow students a gap year. Nine students came in 2014-15, four in 2015-16, and so on .. and three in current session. 


2015:  Partnered with Cisco to sponsor Hackathon at Cognizance festival




Dean requested that his team be engaged in selection and distribution of Heritage Annual Excellence awards. IITRHF shared the applicants profile with Dean and sent funds to IITR, to distribute to the award recipients.






IITRHF is very thankful to IITR administration and IIT Roorkee Alumni Association staff for assisting with arrangements .



2019-2020:  Sponsored E-Summit with 1.5 Lac in prizes, conducted by E-Cell and Management School at IITR


       2019-20
Launched "Pledge a Dream" to support student internships and research paper presentation abroad. This program is gaining popularity and has benefited 20+ students in 9 mos since launch. http://www.iitr-heritagefund.org/pledge-a-dream
