Anniversary
Special Publication Commemorates Limoneira's 125th Year Anniversary

In honor of Limoneira's quasquicentennial (125-year) milestone, the Company commissioned the Pacific Coast Business Times to produce a special edition of its Legacy Publication series. Henry Dubroff, PCBT Chairman and Editor notes that "Limoneira has a story that's not quite like any other.

Founded in the Gilded Age by men who saw the promise of California's fledgling citrus industry, the Ventura County Company has followed the ebbs and flows of the global economy for 125 years. But during the past decade, Limoneira has more than just ridden the cycles of global agriculture.

It has made its mark as a leading producer and distributor of lemons. It has embraced sustainable agriculture on a very large scale, pioneering green waste recycling, vastly reduced water consumption, led the industry in solar energy and led the way with supply chain accountability."

It's a fascinating tale, and a wonderful read. For more information please contact [email protected]

OxnardLimoneira Announces Acquisition Of Oxnard Lemon Company In California

Recently, the Company announced that it has closed an asset purchase agreement to acquire a packinghouse and related assets of Oxnard Lemon Associates, Ltd. in Oxnard, California.

Oxnard Lemon Associates, Ltd. dba Oxnard Lemon Company ("Oxnard Lemon") is one of the leading full-line lemon packing companies in the United States, including a line of organic and specialty citrus. The Oxnard Lemon facility consists of a packinghouse and related equipment on 13 acres strategically located less than a mile from the Port of Hueneme and with a packing capacity of 4,000,000 cartons per year. This transaction increases Limoneira's share of packing and marketing third party grower fruit from California facilities. The Company's greater volume, along with its expanding international operations, continues to support the Company's One World of Citrus™ program servicing an increasingly global marketplace. The adjacency to Limoneira's headquarters in Santa Paula, California creates additional packing efficiencies for the combined enterprise with its two focused locations, while also nearly doubling its storage capacity, which significantly curtails future capital needs in that regard.

In a press release announcing the purchase, Harold Edwards, President and Chief Executive Officer, stated, "We are very excited about Oxnard Lemon joining the Limoneira family. Oxnard Lemon has built a sterling reputation within the lemon industry and is at the forefront of the organic and specialty citrus movement in California. By combining our two facilities under the Limoneira platform, we will create significant efficiencies that will position us for continued sustainable long-term growth while delivering on our promise of superior grower returns and customer service through our One World of Citrus™ initiative. Our pipeline of potential acquisitions remains robust and we will continue to seek value-enhancing transactions for our shareholders."

Amy Fukutomi, Principal Partner in Oxnard Lemon, added, "This exciting milestone will allow growers to leverage Limoneira's growing global footprint in the fresh citrus industry and maximize their returns. We look forward to a bright future together."

Limoneira and Sesame Street Characters Eat Brighter

Sesame Street was conceived in 1966 during discussions between television producer Joan Ganz Cooney and Carnegie Foundation vice president Lloyd Morrisett. Their goal was to create a children's television show that would "master the addictive qualities of television and do something good with them", such as helping young children prepare for school.

After two years of research, the newly formed Children's Television Workshop (CTW) received a combined grant of US$8 million ($53 million in 2017 dollars) from the Carnegie Foundation, the Ford Foundation, and the U.S. Federal Government to create and produce a new children's television show.

The program premiered on public television stations in 1969 and was the first preschool educational television program to base its contents and production values on laboratory and formative research.   By its 40th anniversary in 2009, Sesame Street was broadcast in over 120 countries, and 20 international versions had been produced.

The Produce Marketing Association (PMA) has collaborated with Sesame Street to encourage children ages 2-5 to eat more fresh fruits and vegetables.

Limoneira is proud to be a sponsor and will begin incorporating Sesame Street characters into promotional activities and marketing collateral.

pumpkinAmplifying Autumn-One Of The Most Popular Pumpkin Patches In Southern California

Last year's pumpkin patch at Limoneira Ranch drew over twenty thousand people from far and wide, and this year's patch is pushing the "Wow" factor even higher. Nestled among lemon groves, framed by mountains and country air, the 15-acre Pumpkin Patch, including a 5-acre Corn MaiZe, is family fun for all on a real farm, that has been in operation for over one hundred years.

Visitors will be able to climb the towering hay pyramid, see and hold Future Farmers of America (FFA) animals, take guided tours in old-fashioned hay wagon rides through the groves and enjoy festive foods and live entertainment and more. The patch features a recreated French Trebuchet (catapult) that challenges folks, for an extra charge, to hurl pumpkins at the "castle" and win prizes. And.....  perfect pumpkins and gourds far and wide for sale.

Super exciting this year is the newly designed 5-acre "Amazement" Corn MaiZe.  Visitors fortunate enough to stumble onto the correct pathways may exit the MaiZe in less than 30 minutes; but the more directionally-challenged may take a couple of hours, providing a source of recreation that is fun for all ages, clean, educational and unique. Many people have watched the Santa Paula Rotary MaiZe grow by looking at images on social media.  The MaiZe used at the Pumpkin Patch has been featured on CNN, National Geographic, CBS, NBC, Discovery, People Magazine and more.

According to Ike Ikerd, Santa Paula Rotary President, "Santa Paula's Pumpkin Patch is a tradition, and that it just isn't the start of the Holiday Season without it. Limoneira Ranch is "the" place to pick a perfect pumpkin, have fun and learn a little something about agriculture, whether you come with your kids, grandparents, spouse, date or school. It just seems to appeal to everyone."

All proceeds from the Santa Paula Rotary Pumpkin Patch at Limoneira Ranch support local charities, civic organizations and schools.  Come out and enjoy the fun!

Celebrate the fall this year by visiting The Pumpkin Patch at Limoneira Ranch each weekend this October. Saturdays and Sundays in October:  6/7,13/14, 20/21, and 27/28 between 10am and 5pm.  Admission is $6, children 2 and under are free.  The MaiZe is an additional $10.00 fee.  The Pumpkin Patch is located at 12471 Foothill Rd in Santa Paula, California just across from the Olivelands School.
