A Progress Report from Marlette
Dear SMP friends,

My first few weeks as Executive Director have gone by so quickly and now it’s back-to-school time! I’m happy to report I have had a smooth transition thanks to the wonderful staff and Board leadership. I was also fortunate enough to complete a fun project as a principal singer in Seattle Opera's  Porgy and Bess.  I am very excited to get the school year underway with a newly invigorated focus on music!

Seattle is rich with resources in many areas and one of my goals as Executive Director is to ensure we continually add to our pool of high caliber mentors from Seattle’s music community.

We are excited to get the school year underway and there are two things I’d like to ask you to do to help make it a success:

  1. SHARE - We have an important mission to provide youth with free music instruction and mentoring and are looking for high caliber teaching artists, volunteers, and mentors. Do you know a musician who might be interested in being involved? If so, please share this newsletter with them.
  2. DONATE - Did you know you can donate to SMP while you shop on Amazon? All you need to do is log in to https://smile.amazon.com/ (instead of the regular amazon.com) and select Seattle Music Partners as your charity of choice. Then every time you need to shop, go to Amazon Smile and we will get a portion of your total spend! Or for a quick way to donate to SMP right away, just use the link at the end of this newsletter.

SMP also needs new or gently used computers and musical instruments. What a great reason for you to upgrade your laptop! Please contact me directly to say hello or to discuss your donation at our new phone number: (206) 408-8588 or my email address, marlette@seattlemusicpartners.org .

As many of you know, Meaghan Leferink will be moving on from SMP in September to a wonderful new opportunity. Meaghan has served SMP for six years and we are sad to see her leave. A huge "thank you" to Meaghan and we wish her the best in her new endeavor.

Musically yours,

Marlette Buchanan
