Deadline for 2015 IFNA Award Nominations extended to May 15, 2015
The new 2015 IFNA Awards celebrate IFNA members and "distinguished partners" who are providing outstanding contributions to transform health for families worldwide and advance the nursing of families.  Nine nominations were received for the April 1 deadline. FAMILY NURSING PRACTICE NEWS
The IFNA Practice Committee and IFNA Communications Committee are looking for photos of "FAMILY NURSING IN ACTION" that may be used in the dissemination of the new IFNA Position Statement on Generalist Competencies for Family Nursing Practice and IFNA Position Statement on Pre-Licensure Nursing Education. FAMILY NURSING RESEARCH NEWS

The International Research Collaboration Subcommittee of the IFNA Research Committee is working towards defining "family nursing" from a cross-continent, contemporary perspective. The subcommittee is comprised of nurses from 13 countries across 6 continents.  IFNA sponsored conference calls are being held monthly to complete this work.  Preliminary results will be shared with participants through a paper presented at 12th International Family Nursing Conference in August 2015.

12th International Family Nursing Conference

The 12th International Family Nursing Conference, sponsored by IFNA, will be held in Odense, Denmark, August 18-21, 2015.     

 

For the first time at an International Family Nursing Conference, the IFNA Conference Committee is planning to hold a raffle. The Committee anticipates that this activity will be a fun opportunity to be interactive, enhance the international flavor of the conference, and provide a fund raiser [Read more] .

Current IFNA membership: 378 members from 32 countries.

 

Update from family nursing colleague, Dr. Marilyn M. Friedman, editor and author of 5 editions of " Family Nursing: Research, Theory, & Practice". She is still involved with Cal State University where she taught and is active in the Emeriti Association. She says, "I have really enjoyed retirement". She remarried after the death of her husband in 2002 and is enjoying traveling, volunteering, and some educational planning in the community. Dr. Friedman was honored with a Distinguished Contribution to Family Nursing Award in 2005.
