Hello September! It's hard to believe that our summer is just about over. We can't thank you enough for supporting our "Summer of Yoga" program and for helping to make the first season with our sister company, Happy Dog Paddle Sports, a success! Even though our summer offerings have officially come to an end, we have a lot of great things in store for you as we start to head into the fall season. There are a number of workshops on the schedule and our Progressive Beginner Series is back for one more round in 2018. Scroll down for information on the upcoming programs and workshops, and to see our fall schedule, which starts September 1st.

Remember, summer might be over, but life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall.

MEET ONE OF OUR TEAM
Meet Paul, our featured teacher for September!

1. What got you interested in yoga?
I have always used physical activity to help with my depression, and PTSD, I originally tried yoga to stretch out my back, but after my first class, my mind felt free and peaceful, almost a euphoric feeling. The rest, as they say, is history.

2. How long have you been practicing/teaching?
Practicing 5 years and teaching 4 plus years.

3. What is your favorite yoga pose and why?
Savasana. I believe that my entire asana practice is about getting rid of everything the body does not need, and bringing my body back to balance. Savasana allows me to reap the benefits of my practice, where my body can finally say "Ah, let us rest"

4. What is your least favorite yoga pose and why?
Sun Salutation B, not because of the physicality of the pose, but because I still have a difficult time connecting my breath with each movement. I sometimes feel like I have smoked 5 packs a day, my breath can be so bad...lol

5. What do you love about teaching yoga?
I love how I feel after the end of each class I teach. The students give me so much, on days when I am especially depressed, their energy always lifts me up. I have often said, that the students give me much more than anything I give them.

6. Any pets or children?
Yes, 2 cats, DJ and Ruby

7.
What is your favorite food?
I'll give two. My main course, any Thai food with rice and for dessert, homemade rice Krispy treats.

8. If you could travel anywhere in the world where would you go?
Tough question. But a place I have always wanted to go, is Egypt. I would love to investigate the ancient pyramids.

9. What is your long term goal?
I'm assuming we are talking about yoga related. So I would say, I would like to either open up my own or become the director of a yoga therapy center, where the focus is on helping people recover from severe trauma.

10. What hobbies do you have aside from yoga?
Just started getting into paddle boarding, and any kind of physical activity is good for me.

11. What's 1 thing no one would ever guess about you?
Another tough question. But I'll will say that, nobody would guess that I am an ASIST Responder. You can Google that...

12. What's your favorite song?
Depends on the day, but since I'm a metal head, I will say "Harvester of Sorrow" by Metallica (live version)

13. If you were stuck on a desert island and could only bring 3 things what would they be?

1. Paddle board
2. Camera
3. Urn with Ashes from my dog Mishka.

Have fun with the answers!!!

MEET THE YOGI OF THE MONTH
We would like to introduce you to
Jamie Allen!

I have been regularly practicing yoga for about 18 months. My husband, Steve, and I started going to the studio as a workout alternative when my prosthetic leg started giving me a lot of issues and restrictions. I have fallen in love with the time I get to spend on my mat. It clears my mind, and gives me time to focus on me and my body. I appreciate the progress and failures that come with each practice. I truly feel yoga has taught me about focusing on the process and not perfection.

Namaste,
