Daily Reflection: Wednesday, March 25

My Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

Today we celebrate the Feast of the Annunciation of the Lord: the Archangel, Gabriel, announces to Mary that she is to conceive and bear a Son, Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
In this feast, we have an important message for us as we walk through these difficult days of the Coronavirus.

Because of Mary’s “Yes,” Our God has climbed into our boat…Our God has moved into our neighborhood…our God has pitched His tent among us…Our God is one with us…Our God walks with us on our journey of life and faith…Our God shares our joys and helps to carry our burdens…

Our God is in our midst! Let us take comfort and find solace and strength in these days. We are not alone. We have God and we have one another.

We walk in faith trusting in God, surrendering to our new reality, turning a crisis into new opportunities to see our world and ourselves with a set of new and fresh eyes.

I encourage you to take a few minutes to read an article by Fr. James Martin, SJ. The article is an OP ED piece in The New York Times and is entitled: Where is God in a Pandemic?

Mary, Mother of God and Mother of Jesus, pray for us!
