WHAT IS A PREDATORY CONFERENCE?

A new IFNA document, "What is Predatory Conference?" has been created to provide information to IFNA members about the rising incidence of predatory conferences in nursing and family nursing, in particular. Drafted by the IFNA Communications Committee and approved by the IFNA Board of Directors, this document offers a description and current references about the nature of these fraudulent conferences.  Please share this document with your colleagues and students.

FAMILY NURSING PRACTICE NEWS

Barbara Preusse-Bleuler (Switzerland) recently organized a successful 4-day workshop at Zurich University of Applied Sciences focused on advanced family nursing practice which was attended by 28 nurses from 5 countries (Iceland, Italy, Netherlands, Switzerland, USA). She is facilitating numerous family nursing implementation projects throughout Switzerland and Italy.

FAMILY NURSING EDUCATION NEWS


A video called "Worldwide Perspectives on Family" is available to IFNA Members for educational use. Families in Japan, Australia, Denmark, and the United States were interviewed about two questions: "What is family?" and "What do families do together?".  The video was developed and edited into 4 varying lengths by members of the IFNA International Research Collaboration Subcommittee

FAMILY NURSING RESEARCH NEWS

Dr. Suzanne Feetham (USA) was an awarded an honorary doctorate from Wayne State University for her foundational leadership in family nursing science. A video of the award offered at the 2016 Wayne State University convocation and Dr. Feetham's response is available on the IFNA YouTube channel. [Read more]

German doctoral program in family health receives continued funding: The German Ministry of Education and Research has offered funding for a second three-year term of the doctoral program, "Family health in the life course", offered by the University of Witten/Herdecke and the University of Applied Sciences in Osnabrück, Germany.  [Read more]

Have you ever really considered the intersection between the art and science of family nursing? For example, some researchers use art (photography, drawings, stories, music, etc.) with their participants to elicit or represent perceptions or experiences. Similarly, clinicians can use art as a form of therapy. These methods can be taught to students of family nursing. To learn more, please plan to attend the 13th International Family Nursing Conference (IFNC13) in Pamplona, Spain in 2017. Our theme will be
" The Art and Science of Family Nursing: Transforming Health for Families ."
