Update on the 2020 Spring/Summer Season
Temporary suspension of activities thru April 6

Like all of you, the WMLL Board of Directors has been paying close attention to the coronavirus situation (with a special focus on Wisconsin, Dane County & Madison); public health advisories from the World Health Organization, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Public Health Madison & Dane County; and the many related area cancellations over the past week.

In light of these unprecedented events, the WMLL Board has made the difficult decision to temporarily suspend virtually all WMLL until no earlier than April 6 as recommended by Little League International. At present, we are planning to conduct the baseball drafts as scheduled with an option for coaches to participate remotely via electronic means. Due to the month later start of the softball season (May 16-17 vs. April 18-19), the softball drafts will be held at a later date to be announced.

While baseball teams will be established at the draft & coaches are encouraged to communicate with their players & families, we ask teams not to practice or hold meetings until a resumption of activities is approved by the WMLL Board. An update on softball operations will be sent to softball families in the next week or so.

We realize that our players will be disappointed to learn that the start of WMLL preseason activities & practices is being delayed. We feel the same way, but our top priority is protecting the well-being of WMLL players, families & volunteers and acting responsibly within our local, state, national & world communities. It is definitely a time for vigilance and caution, and we thank you for your understanding during these uncertain times.

We will provide updates if plans change or there is information to share. Until then we remain excited about the upcoming season & look forward to seeing you all at the WMLL ballpark as soon as possible.
