Dear North Hills School District families, staff and members of the community,
The North Hills School District continues to monitor the coronavirus (COVID-19) and its spread across the country.
Following new guidance from Gov. Wolf and the
Allegheny County Health Department advising residents to avoid large events and mass gatherings where close contact is inevitable, we have decided to take the following precautions:
- All NHSD student and staff field trips through April 30, 2020, have been cancelled or postponed.
- All NHSD large-scale activities and events through April 3, 2020, have been cancelled or postponed. This includes the spring musical and the high school’s spring formal.
We will look to reschedule the following and will communicate new dates as soon as they’re available:
- March 19: North Hills Town Hall “The Dangers of Vaping”
- March 20-22, 26-28: Spring Musical “Catch Me If You Can”
- March 30: Band-O-Rama
- April 1: Elementary Band Spring Concert
- April 2: United States Service Academies Day
- April 3: NHHS Spring Formal
At this time, athletic events will continue as scheduled, and school will remain in session.
We will continue to follow the direction of the Allegheny County Health Department, Pennsylvania Department of Health, Pennsylvania Department of Education and Centers for Disease Control as this situation continues to evolve and change.
We recognize the actions above will cause disruption to our families, staff and community members. This is a challenging time, and we thank you for your cooperation as we plan the appropriate course of action to keep everyone safe as new information becomes available.
NHSD will be joining a webinar with Pennsylvania Secretary of Education Pedro Rivera tomorrow, Friday, March 13, to further discuss COVID-19 and it’s potential implications on public school districts.

If traveling, we ask that you please review and adhere to the CDC’s latest
Travel Health Notices and take extra precautions if traveling to areas of the United States with a significant number of known COVID-19 cases.
