Re-elected as District 1 Supervisor For Another Four Years
Thank you, West Sacramento and Clarksburg, for giving me another 4-year term on the Yolo County Board of Supervisors. Serving as an elected in my hometown is a privilege that I cherish every day. I recognize that this level of leadership requires me to make difficult decisions daily that directly affect people's lives, and I don't take this responsibility lightly. Thank you again and I appreciate your vote and support.
Chairing CSAC's Housing, Land Use and Transportation Policy Committee in San Francisco
As Chair of the California State Association of Counties' Housing, Land Use and Transportation Policy Committee, we convened at the CSAC Annual Meeting in San Francisco on December 4, 2019 to bring forth hot topics on our radar. After presenting the 2019 year in review, in addition to discussions on SB 1 implementation and housing reform, we met the Governor's Tribal Negotiations Adviser Anna Naimark. Another annual meeting leaving me proud to be representing Yolo County.
West Sacramento Showcased as a Great Place to Live in AARP Bulletin
The December 2019 issue of the AARP Bulletin showcased The City of West Sacramento as one of five great places to live in the United States. Citing the city's innovation in tackling transportation, turning a suburb into a destination community, and the active engagement of seniors, our city was showcased as the shining star that we all know and love. Yolo County to Purchase Mobile Medica/Dental Vehicle
Presented at our January 14, 2020 Board of Supervisors Meeting was the Whole Person Care Program Resolution. This pilot program allows for the County of Yolo Health & Human Services Agency to accept a one-time allocation from the Department of Health Care Services to purchase a mobile medical/dental vehicle. This vehicle will be equipped with medical and dental space in order to aid low-income populations and improve outcomes of vulnerable and high-risk populations. Indeed, a win-win for all.
Rural Fire Districts
County Administrator Patrick Blacklock, District 3 Supervisor Gary Sandy, Chief Gary Frederickson and I attended a meeting at the Clarksburg Fire Department to discuss the next steps supporting Yolo County's rural fire districts. We presented the current work plan for supporting our rural fire districts and next steps. Stay tuned for further information.
Historic Clarksburg Schoolhouse Moves to a New Location
If you were in the vicinity of Clarksburg Road, River Road, Netherlands Avenue or Center Street on December 9, 2019, you may have seen the Clarksburg Schoolhouse lifted and slowly moved from its old home on Clarksburg Road to its new resting place. The schoolhouse was built in 1883 and was moved in preparation of its restoration. Once restored, this jewel will become a place to gather and house collections and artifacts. Port and City Partner
to Open  New Bike Trail
February 13, 2020 marked the official opening of the Barge Canal Trail. This bike and pedestrian trail, almost a mile in length, runs along the south side of the Barge Canal access. Features along the access include bench seating, upgraded trash bins, and lighting, along with replicas of historic artifacts to honor the Port of West Sacramento's heritage. Besides myself, City of West Sacramento Mayor Christopher Cabaldon, Council Members Sandeen and Ledesma, city staff and friends gathered for this momentous occasion. To view photos

Sutter Health Park
Sign Lighting Ceremony
I was honored to attend the sign lighting ceremony of Sutter Health Park, formerly Raley Field. On February 10, 2020, Sutter Health and the Sacramento River Cats officially lit the new Sutter Health Park front gate sign at the stadium. This exciting event was captured by KCRA 3 and you can  click here to watch news coverage of the lighting.
Delta Protection Commission Annual Report and Letter to  Governor
The Delta Protection Commission submits a yearly report to the Governor of California. This report details the great strides that The Commission and its staff have made towards the protection, maintenance, enhancement, and enrichment of the Delta. As Chair of the Delta Protection Commission, and pursuant to the provisions of Public Resources Code Section 29780, we submitted to Governor Newsom our 2019 Delta Protection Commission Annual Report. National Association of Counties Legislative Conference 2020
As a member of the Human Services and Education Steering Committee, I attended the NACo Legislative Conference 2020, in Washington DC in February. I was able to be a part of many great discussions centering on local food banks and the surplus domestic commodities, flexible foster care funding, Head Start Program challenges, and SNAP online pilot program. I always return from these trips with a renewed sense of hope.
