Allyson Baumeister, Principal in Charge at CliftonLarsonAllen, joined us as a mentor for this month's Table for 10 event at Reata. Allyson also serves as the 2018 Board Chairman for the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce. Nine Vision FW members talked with Allyson about work/life balance and boundaries, such as when you need to tune out of work life and start enjoying your personal life.

Honor America: For several years during Labor Day weekend, Waterchase Golf Club has hosted Folds of Honor's Patriot Golf Day. Folds of Honor provides educational scholarships to spouses and children of America's fallen and disabled service members. "We participate and collect donations through Labor Day weekend," said Jason Heitschmidt, GM at Waterchase. "We give away a Titleist golf bag in a drawing from everyone who has donated, whether they are playing golf or not." Folds of Honor chose golf for the recreation, Mother Nature, camaraderie ... and fun. Jason likes fun and thinks you would enjoy this round of golf for four.

You're calling too fast/too slow: Are you ready to G-O for a night of b-i-n-g-o and brews Sept. 12 during Camp Fire First Texas' Bingo S'mores & Pours? It's Philanthropy on Tap, hosted by Wild Acre Brewing Company. These two tickets, courtesy of Christy & Chloe, get you and a guest unlimited bingo cards, four craft beers, light bites, delights at the S'mores station and other special goodies. With fewer people in a quaint atmosphere, your chances to scream out BINGO are increased.

Doggone popular, so it's back: Mr. B had too much catnip, and B2B Insider is in the doghouse for not offering this earlier. But it's doggedly doing its best to trot out two tickets to the Humane Society of North Texas' second annual Paws for Celebration gala and auction THIS SATURDAY evening at The Renaissance Worthington Hotel Fort Worth. Last week, the HSNT was able to make 354 homes more fulfilled during its free adoption weekend. Money raised from SATURDAY'S gala will continue to unite people with their new loved ones. B2B Insider is thankful for Jennifer Smith, who unleashed two tickets, but you have to be available THIS SATURDAY night, August 25.

You know he's Wright: Quarterly, John Wright offers a B2B Insider giveaway from his Simple Leadership Strategies company. What the company does, Simply, is provide Leadership Strategies. The past two winners have written Mr. B and Monta Noe, princess possessor of the prizes, to exclaim the virtues of this seminar. John will come to your site and do a one-hour micro workshop called Creating Meaningful & Lasting Change. It is for as many employees as you can fit into a room. According to reviews, this is The Wright Stuff.

Congratulations to the August 15th

A WORD FROM OUR GOLD SPONSORS

HE SAID, SHE SAID, THEY SAIDSoundBytes
Raised voices for this toast: Fort Worth Opera is looking to break and make bread with a world premiere opera May 1-3-5 during FWOpera Festival. Part of the alternative venue series, Companionship, composed by Rachel Peters, will debut at the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens, and hopefully the ticket price includes admission to the beautiful setting. The story centers around a woman obsessed with dough.

I've seen that face before: Bobby Mays, T&G ID Systems, says facial recognition isn't having much of an impact on his business ... yet. "It's still very expensive and only being used at very high levels."

The biggest bark: Ian Biggs has the cutest Boston Terrier, Emma (right), who always has slept in his bed. When Ian met Rachel Lewis, she only had outdoor dogs. They were married 3.5 years ago and own Clearfork Lawn Care. And Emma's bed post? She mowed down any and all possible objections from Rachel and "still has her spot on the bed," Ian said with a big smile.

25-year trek: Glen Hahn of IDI, involved with the Fort Worth Police Bike Support Group since its inception 25 years ago this October, says $3 million has been raised in that time. Outfitting an officer is approximately $1,900 for clothing and accessories, and $1,700 for a Volcanic police mountain bike. Fort Worth has more than 200 certified bike officers.

4+ months to FLIRT: TexRail from downtown to DFW International Airport is less than five months away. Trinity Metro estimates 8,000 riders on (probably) 72 daily trips during 2019. The train -- Fast Light Innovative Regional Train (FLIRT) with a top speed of 70 mph -- is 266 feet long, 13.5 tall and 9.25 wide. There are seats for 229 and standing room capacity of 488. There are bicycle racks and overhead luggage racks. USB ports at every seat.
"Innovation in work spaces? Greater collaboration, but tougher to focus."

Fore! Topgolf has become a big competitor to traditional outdoor courses for the non-profit fundraiser business. Topgolf sales sensation Candice Stinnett chipped in with some reasons she hears: 1) Half the time to play; 2) Reduced time to plan event by committees; 3) No rainouts; 4) No skill required; 5) More energy, better setup for mingling; 6) No baby sitters needed (bring the kids); and 7) Can take up to 612 players.

A great Pop-in: Signature Cuffs invited Alchemy Pops to dish delights during its launch party. Signature owner Cynthia Sadler got to name a Pop for the occasion -- Off the Cuff. Locavore (kitchens for rent) invited Alchemy Pops to dish delights for its launch party tomorrow night. Co-owner Courtney Gumbleton got to name a Pop for the occasion -- Peaches & Cream.

Happy birthday: Frost Bank is 150 this year, started in San Antonio in 1868 by Thomas Claiborne Frost, a lieutenant colonel in the Confederate States Army. It has just trotted out a new tagline - OPT FOR OPTIMISM.

A toothy explanation: Today is National Tooth Fairy Day, according to monthologist John Fletcher. Early Norse tradition suggests that when a child lost a baby tooth, it was buried to spare the child from hardships in the next life. In Spain, the most well known dental character is Ratoncito Perez, appearing in cartoons and with a museum dedicated to him in Madrid. In American, the Walt Disney Co. made the fairies famous. According to a Dec. 2017 Delta Dental survey, the average American child receieved $4.13 for a lost tooth.

Timely topic on a date to remember: The next Chamber Impact Your Business luncheon, sponsored by the University of Texas at Arlington College of Business, is Sept. 11, and the subject matter is cyber security.

R-E-S-P-E-C-T: Aretha and Elvis died on Aug. 16, 41 years apart.
