I'm crushing it this summer!

I'm going to get this post started by cliché-ing away (and by turning cliché into a verb):

"If you're not moving forward, you're moving backward"

"The only constant is change"

And one of my all-time favorites, which comes from Iron Mike Tyson:

"Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth"

Well, that last one might not exactly be an old cliché, but you just have to marvel at the raw, simple truth of it. All three and many more well-worn phrases that we could all come up with really do have some truth to them. They apply to business, hobbies, sports, self-motivation, and to everything else we humans do on a daily basis. Sometimes they're mundane and sometimes they wake us up, these versatile little sayings.

How about you and I adopt a brand new one? "I'm going to absolutely crush it this summer!" Let me explain:

This summer has been - and shall continue to be - all about stepping up my game. My website is completely updated and it rocks. It shouts "I'm here to help!" Please take a look if you haven't already done so in a while.

I revamped my wealth management process, "Our 7 step process to wealth management". My internal, detailed version of my 7 step wealth management process is designed to maximize my clients' potential to achieve goals. My use of online screen-sharing technology has enabled me to see, update, and bond with clients more often and better than ever. I'm no longer bringing any paper on client appointments (Ipad), whether here in my conference room or on the road. My new order entry, block trading, and rebalancing program that is integrated with my clearing firm, Pershing, LLC, is literally one of the best things to ever happen to my career - it's THAT good. I am an expert in the new features from my main financial technology software vendors, Riskalyze and MoneyGuidePro. This is amazing stuff, guys. I can test out how a new stock addition to an investment portfolio could impact the overall portfolio and how the other holdings interact with each other.

My industry, your industry; they're changing at warp speed and I'm determined to be at the forefront of that change - uh oh, get ready for another newly minted cliché - to be the disruptor, not the disrupted.

I'm a little paler than usual for this time of year, but so be it. I'm in a career that I love, in an industry that fascinates me. The fact of the matter is that even though I've been in my career for 28 years, I feel like I've been in dozens of careers due to all of the rapid changes it has undergone since I started in 1990. In 2020, I'll celebrate my 30
th year in this industry and my 15 year anniversary of opening ClientFirst Strategy, Inc. I can't wait to write the post in 2 years about the things I've learned along the way, the mistakes I learned from, and the friendships I've built. Any who, this has been a great summer of accomplishment and I'm just grateful to have an amazing clientele to serve.

Over the last few weeks I've been testing out LinkedIn and Facebook video to share knowledge I've accumulated over the years in 1 to 2 minute videos. Nothing overly fancy, just the important stuff. I'll post a few below, but going forward, they're mainly for LinkedIn. So, if we aren't already connected, please hit me with an invitation to connect.
