Library & Archives
The National Museum of Transportation is honored to be selected as a 2018 National Railway Historical Society (NRHS) Heritage Grant recipient.  This $4,000.00 award will be combined with Museum funds to purchase archival supplies and steel shelving for the long-term curation and preservation of thousands of oversized-documents, maps, and drawings in the Museum's archives.  For over 25 years, the NRHS has provided financial assistance to projects that preserve our nation's railway history.  We are grateful to the NRHS for their support in our efforts to greater serve our community by helping us to improve the stewardship of the archival collections in our care.

Additionally, Mr. Justin Jackson donated nearly $11,000.00 in new equipment to the Library including a Microsoft Surface Book, a Surface Studio, a Surface Laptop, and the accessories needed to use the new equipment.

Each day staff and volunteers work in the Museum Library & Archives to preserve, catalog, and collect items that capture a moment in history. The collected pieces are priceless. The passion these individuals display for preserving history is remarkable. We need to ensure that these individuals have the tools they need to work in the most efficient manner preserving the past for future generations.  If you would like to donate to the Library & Archives, click here
