'The Power to Move You'
Capital Campaign
The National Museum of Transportation Board of Directors hired
Jeffrey Bryne & Associates, Inc. to complete a capital campaign study for the Museum.
Jeffrey Byrne, of Kansas City, will work with Ellen Howe, his colleague at
The Rome Group in St. Louis, to oversee the campaign action plan and timeline.

'
The Power to Move You' has four major high priority projects including:
completion of The William R. and Laura Rand Orthwein Education and Visitor Center; construction of an open-air pavilion providing coverage for the currently exposed historical artifacts on the lower four rail lines; design and completion of an artifact storage facility; and, completion of the trolley rail line platform with an exit/entrance at The Earl C. Lindburg Automobile Center.

xperience will offer participants a resume' building skill-set that will enhance and benefit long-term career and life goals. This program is for those civic-minded individuals between the ages of 16-24 looking for volunteer opportunities in restoration, renovation, landscaping, guests services, and education and technology.
D.R.I.V.E. meets the first
Saturday of each month at
9:00 am at the NMOT, Earl C. Lindburg Automobile Center - Entrance #2,
2933 Barrett Station Road.

Restoration
Volunteers continue to work on five restoration projects at The NMOT. Projects include
Georgia 724,
Union Tank Line 14387,
Kansas City Public Service Trolley 1533,
SEPTA Streetcar, and
C-47 repaint (touch up).

Library & Archives
The National Museum of Transportation is honored to be selected as a 2018 National Railway Historical Society (NRHS) Heritage Grant recipient. This $4,000.00 award will be combined with Museum funds to purchase archival supplies and steel shelving for the long-term curation and preservation of thousands of oversized-documents, maps, and drawings in the Museum's archives. For over 25 years, the NRHS has provided financial assistance to projects that preserve our nation's railway history. We are grateful to the NRHS for their support in our efforts to greater serve our community by helping us to improve the stewardship of the archival collections in our care.
Additionally, Mr. Justin Jackson donated nearly $11,000.00 in new equipment to the Library including a Microsoft Surface Book, a Surface Studio, a Surface Laptop, and the accessories needed to use the new equipment.
Each day staff and volunteers work in the Museum Library & Archives to preserve, catalog, and collect items that capture a moment in history. The collected pieces are priceless. The passion these individuals display for preserving history is remarkable. We need to ensure that these individuals have the tools they need to work in the most efficient manner preserving the past for future generations. We consider our collection superior in
art-ifacts! Join us for the 2nd Annual NMOT Plein Air,
Saturday, September 22nd, Smithsonian Day - 2018, and watch area artist paint our exhibits on canvas.
