A Message from the Superintendent
Welcome to the new version of Email Express. We will highlight all of the upcoming events and district-wide news, with the detailed information to be found just a click away.

Our campuses returned to normal business hours on Monday. Please feel free to stop by any of our schools or administration building Monday – Friday for assistance.

We will welcome back our entire staff on Monday, August 13th with Convocation to be held at Lovejoy High School. Please note: all campuses and the district office will be closed until 1:00 PM on August 13th.

Monday, August 20th is the first day of school. Please be sure to check campus websites and principal emails for important news and upcoming events. We can’t wait to see the achievements and accomplishments your students will experience and attain in this new school year.

We are looking forward to an excellent 2018-2019 school year.

School Funding

I have shared a great deal of information with you about the reduction of funding our state legislature has set in motion by a lack of funding that has not kept up with increased enrollment or the inflationary pressures on our costs of doing business.

This chart, from the National Center of Educational Statistics shows how state funding for public education has not kept pace with the other 50 states.

Volunteers
Thank you to all of our parents who give so generously of their time to serve as volunteers in our schools. The volunteer application process for the 2018-2019 school year will soon open. Watch for a separate email with detailed instructions.

Our K – 12 tuition-based enrollment program is a great opportunity for families who live outside of our district boundaries, but want their children to experience a Lovejoy education. Lovejoy Pre-K Now Enrolling
Excellence Begins Early - Call Today!

Lovejoy ISD is accepting applications for tuition-based Pre-Kindergarten. This comprehensive program is staffed by certified teachers and is housed on the Puster Elementary School campus. Enrichment offerings include music, fitness, art, library, science, technology, engineering, and math. We are proud to provide a Lovejoy education for community members seeking a rich learning experience, which will provide a firm foundation for kindergarten and beyond.

New! Back to School: Important Transportation News
The Transportation Department is looking forward to welcoming your students to the 2018-2019 school year. Important news regarding requesting bus service, bus routes, stop locations, time, and the SafeStop School Bus Tracking App is now available.

Lovejoy High School is offering an exciting new Entrepreneurship course – INCubatoredu and we need your help.


Gifted and Talented Referrals for 2018-2019
The referral window for gifted and talented services is now open. Referral forms will be available online in the PowerSchool Parent Portal beginning August 13th.


Kids 1st Registration: Now Open
Registration is now open for Kids 1st. This program is a service to parents who need after school care during the regular school year.


Lovejoy Ice Hockey Registration
The Lovejoy Ice Hockey Club is forming teams for this upcoming season. Any 7th - 12th grade hockey players who would like to join the team are encouraged to reach out to [email protected]


Lovejoy Preschool PTA
Calling all parents of preschoolers – You are invited to join the Lovejoy Preschool PTA for their new member coffee to learn more about their organization.
