Industry insiders discuss what's new in head and face protection and the importance of
using the correct personal protective equipment.
3M recommends seven elements for Hearing Conservation Programs (HCPs) that are
based on both OSHA requirements and best practices recommendations from NIOSH.
They are Measure, Control, Protect, Check, Train, Record, and Evaluate.

Safety+'s schedule is unusual for a large U.S. safety show because the expo hours are
broken up into several separate segments, in order not to conflict with attendees' workshops.
Rep. RoseLee Vincent filed a bill that would require police officers, firefighters, emergency
medical technicians and corrections officers responding to the scene of an overdose to
wear personal protective equipment including gloves, a mask and safety glasses.

Secretary of Labor R. Alexander Acosta on Aug. 21 appointed Wayne Palmer acting
assistant secretary for the Mine Safety and Health Administration.
The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration's homepage has been
redesigned to replace a section that detailed workplace fatalities with a section about
OSHA working with employers.
According to a news release the agency issued Friday, OSHA found at least one
employee was exposed to excessive levels of hexavalent chromium and another
worker suffered severe injuries after being hit by a moving piece of machinery.
