Preparing Your Outdoors for Spring

Clean the exterior of your home to wash off all the winter dirt. Depending on the exterior finish of your home, either a power wash, light hose or scrubbing with warm water and soap will make your home sparkle again. And don’t forget to touch up any chipping or peeling paint.

Check the gutters to make sure they are not loose or leaking. Improper drainage can lead to water in the basement. Make sure downspouts drain away from the foundation and are clear and free of debris. This is a great time to address any grading issues as well, by adding compacted soil around the foundation of your home and any low spots in your lawn.

Examine Roof to see if any shingles were lost or damaged over winter. Make necessary repairs before the summer sun hits your roof, which can make any damage worse.

Spruce up your deck by creating an outdoor living space. If new furniture is not in your budget this year, add pops of colour to your existing furniture with bright pillows, flower pots and outdoor lighting.

Bring your garden back to life. Some of your gardens just need a quick weeding and others may need a complete overhaul. Pinterest is a great place to get amazing garden ideas and remember mulch and garden lights can go a long way in creating that perfect curb appeal.
